Off To Gallagher

Mum drops me off around the corner from the front gates of Gallagher. She looks at me and winks, gesturing her head to a brick just half a shade darker than the others- her blonde hair blowing in the wind as she smiles. When I look back, she has swapped cars and I shake my head in wonder. I remember our dead drop spot-near the gazebo in Roseville, a town not far from my new school. I slide an evapopaper note out of my sleeve and loosely throw it to her. She grins as she reads it. I smirk at her. It drops into the sewer and melts away. She drives off.

I'm so excited. They're reactions will be priceless. I push the brick aside and take 3 rights, a left, up a hill, left again and out into the Hall of History, complete with Gilly's Sword. What a treasure! I look around the Hall of History in awe. What a great place! I was hoping they didn't have the Code Red on. That would totally ruin it. Besides, they don't think I'm coming for another half hour. Ha!

I stare around a little more until Ms. Morgan comes out of her office and goes to head towards the doors, before stopping and turning to look at me. I grin innocently at her. She blinks, and then takes me by the wrist inside her office and slams the door.

I should be scared. I'm not.

I should look around the room filled with trained operatives in awe. I don't.

I shouldn't be able to make eye contact with Rachel Morgan. I can.

I smirk at her again.

"How did you get in here?" She asks.

"Through a door." I say.

She looks at me. I look at her. I look around.

"Patricia, Joe, Madam Dabney, Mr Smith." I name as I look around at the highly trained operatives gathered in the office. They all blink.

"So, Kat", Ms. Morgan starts. "What brings you to Gallagher Academy?"

"Well," I say in a duh tone. "My test scores were obviously high enough to get in if I'm here."

"Yes", says Rachel, seeming to relax into her role as Headmistress. " This is no ordinary school for Exceptional Young Women as I have told many people before you. Before I tell you what type of school this is I need to know if you are okay with this abrupt change in your beliefs or you can go now if you like."

I look at her, at all of them and snort. Ha! Me, leave the Gallagher Academy before the Semester starts- well, this is the first day but still. No way! They can't scare me. Ooh, that's when I realise that none of them have mentioned the word spy before. Good times are ahead. They all are looking like they are keen to see my reaction. I feign shock. They don't quite look convinced until my knees 'buckle' and I trip over the table, landing on Joe Solomon. Perfect.

"Gosh, sorry Joe, this is just a bit overwhelming!" I say as I stand up on my own.

"So, what were you saying, Ms. Morgan? I think that I am fully prepared for whatever I am about to hear. I think I can accept this type of school. So, come on, what is it? What's so special?" I ask, seeming eager for answers. LOL, no.

And that is when I tripped again on to Joe Solomon, blushed and then muttered;

"Jeez, I thought you'd need at least a little bit of coordination to get into Spy School." And with those words, every teacher in the room's jaws went slack. I grin. This is definitely one of my better pranks. They didn't know that I knew. Haha, jokes on them.

I spin. "Joe, don't even think about those knives that you put in your pocket. Why? 1. Because you can't hurt me. 2. Because you won't hurt me and 3. Because they aren't there anymore. I won't be needing a tour so...

"Ladies and Gentlemen", I say nodding at each in turn. "Goodbye". They tried calling but I had already disappeared into the crowd of girls flowing in the corridor. And the immediately gave up on finding me.

I find my way to my dorm room. What were my roommates' names again? Oh yeah, Diana and Bianca. That's right! Best friends since, like, forever! How am I gonna fit in with those? Difficult, much? I remember the Sophomore Timetable. Oh! CoveOps is after lunch, which everyone is at now. I guess I'll go to my room while no one is there, then.

Flash. "Holy— "Autopilot takes over. Catch. Drop. Roll. Throw. Spin. Through. Under. Kick. I jump on to the bed in a fighting stance. Bring it on, people. Wait. Oops.

Diana and Bianca are lying on the floor. Not unconscious but directly in my line of fire. Oops. "Sorry guys." I say, apologetically, looking at them. "But what did someone throw?" They look at each other and nod.

"First of all- "starts Bianca.

"No need to bloody apologise- "continues Diana.

"Because that was BLOODY awesome!" Finishes Bianca.

"But, anyway, I through the knife." Ah, so it was Diana. "I was throwing them at the target," she says as she walks around and flips the door shut, showing a target on the back. I make an O shape with my mouth. " I can usually get away with it during lunch because, you know, everyone's at lunch. And, we weren't expecting you for another half hour but anyway...Let us introduce ourselves. I'm- "

"Diana, Bianca. I'm Kat, nice to meet you." They stare. "The teachers didn't tell you our names, did they?" They are smart. I shook my head, no. They grinned at each other.

"Ok, so here's the deal with this room." Says Bianca, obviously more the leader of the pair.

"1. What is said in this room, stays in this room unless we agree on something else. 2. No shame in asking questions, we are your new sisters. 3. We must know everything before anyone else. 4. This means snooping." I grin at both of them.

"I have a feeling that we're going to get along very well." I say, and I truly mean it.
