'Who are you?' That question was floating around in Taehyung's head that he couldn't help but feel that little part of himself felt hopeless, He knew things couldn't be the same as they were when they were kids. Though those memories always lingered in his mind, they haunted him.
He tried so hard to forget, forget all that had happened but each event spent with Jungkook was burned into his memory. He missed the younger like hell and he finally gave up on staying away. Though he never expected the male to be so broken after moving in next to him. He only wanted to help regain his memories, since that selfish part inside of him wanted Jungkook back. He wanted to love him like before, letting go was not as easy as he thought. It hurt more than anything because you know that person will be in your mind every day. They etched themselves into your brain, that to burn every trace of them was almost impossible. Trying to burn them only leaves only that pain of missing them. Wanting to wash them easily away, but how can you if they made you who you are?
Maybe he was a little like the younger. Taehyung knew how much he mourned over his mother and probably wasn't over her yet. Likewise, he wasn't over his only childhood friend, his crush. He was hoping that Jungkook would finally remember. So that part inside of him could feel at ease, the part that yearned for the other like crazy. He wanted everything to come back to the male so that he knew everything from the past at least meant something. It wasn't just a distant, meaningless memory. It was the only things he saw when he looked at the younger.
His fingers tangled with Jungkook's as he led the male through the haunting dark. Yet there was something he loved about this park. It always meant so much to him. He felt a little smile on his face, thinking about those games they used to play. When he would always run every time the ice cream van would appear and drag his mother to beg her to buy him one. Those moments he had with Jungkook, this was the place where he first met the younger. He gulped as he looked back at the ravenette, observing him. He could still see his child self in him, he was always distant, cautious. Not letting anyone get close. He also remembers how he would sometimes get shy, it was so adorable. Yet now he looked so damn attractive, with that those brown locks that were slightly messy and those soft pink lips he could kiss for days.
Finally reaching a tree, he leaned against it and pointed out something that was carved into the bark. Although it was hard to make out due to the darkness surrounding them.
The young boy pouted as he felt drops of his ice lolly as it melted on the hot summers day.
Tae giggled and shifted closer. They were both sat on the soft grass, in the boiling hot sun trying to get shade under the tree. He held out his ice cream. "You can share with me." he gave his typical boxy smile.
Jungkook's heart fluttered as he shook his head. "No it's okay." He said appreciating the older offered. He always admired the older's tendencies, how he was so kind and loving. He always managed to get friends easily with his charm, which sometimes did make the younger feel jealous, yet grateful. Grateful that he met someone like this, someone where he wasn't afraid of showing his emotions too, and they were always there for him. If only he had the same gentleness to him, maybe then he would be able to get more friends. Maybe then he would not be afraid of talking to people. The ravenette pretty much lacked social skills, and just tended to stick inside his own bubble. He only kept Tae and his mother close, and that's all he needed no one else.
"Pabo your clothes are getting dirty." Taehyung scolded him, referring to the melting lolly, which now left the fabric of his shirt stained with a bright yellow.
Taehyung huffed and took his lolly stick, which was no just sticky and there was only a little left that was dripping. He then flicked it, disposing of it then shrugged. "I have an idea." the edge of his lip tugged into a small smirk.
"What is it?" The younger tilted his head slightly in curiosity, whilst he looked at the older's mischevious expression.
The older took out a pocket knife from the pocket of his pants. As Jungkook's eyes widened as he backed away a little, "You aren't going to kill me?"
Taehyung chuckled. "No of course not, just watch." He grasped the folded knife and placed the tip of his flexed thumb on the stud and extend his thumb to swiftly swing the blade through its arc until the blade was fully open. As he turned around.
Facing the tree, he started to carve something into the bark as Jungkook silently watched him as he etched something into the dark wood.
After the older was finished, he scrunched up his nose in dissatisfaction as his work. The ravenette slightly pushed him aside and he instantly didn't know what he was feeling, but his stomach just did a backflip and his heart was fluttering as he read those few words.
"-I love you Jungkook"
The ravenette's brows knitted at the sight of those words on the tree. It felt so familiar but he couldn't grasp it. "W-who loves me?"
Taehyung looked at him in disappoinment, then lowered his gaze. "I knew you wouldn't remember-" He mumbled under his breath and sighed lightly. "Nevermind-"
The younger grabbed the older's wrist before he could turn his heel and start walking away. "Taehyung, it's you isn't it?"
The dirty blonde's nose crinkled. "What do you mean?"
"You were the one who helped me when I fell off that swing." Jungkook finally pieced that part together.
"Y-you remember?" The older's eyes glistened, as he felt a sense of hope. That Jungkook's memories will return.
The ravenette nodded, yet he was still slightly confused. "You was the one who wrote this, right?" He referred to the words engraved into the bark.
"I was-" Tae mumbled as he played with the edges of his shirt.
"Then why can't I recall it?"
