Jennifer awoke to the sound of birds and saw that Emily was still asleep. She got dressed and walked down the stairs and into the living room.
The doorbell rang and she looked through the key hole. She saw that James was outside. He looked as if he was about to freeze. Opening the door, she invited him in. He gladly excepted the invitation.
Jennifer made him some hot chocolate. "Thanks." James said breathlessly. Jennifer handed him a coffee mug with the chocolate in it. "No problem." She responded. He took a couple sips from the cup. "I've never seen you before, you live around here?" He questioned her. Jennifer nodded. "Just a couple blocks down." She told him, smiling.
He finished his chocolate and got up. "Well, I think I should leave now. I wouldn't want to bother you." James says sheepishly. Jennifer stopped him. "Wait here." She tells him, leaving the room and coming back with a piece of paper. "Call me sometime." She handed him the paper with a shy smile and he left. She saw him smiling as he walked down the street. "On no! He left his coat!" Jennifer realized and put her coat on, rushing out the door with his.
She ran down the street and caught him at a house not too far from Emily's. "You forgot your coat." She breathed out once she reached him. James face-palmed and put his coat on. "I guess your beauty distracted me from remembering." He replied smoothly, making Jennifer blush. "Ill call you tonight, ok?" He grins and she nods, hurrying back to the house.
When she opened the door she saw Emily searching frantically. "What up Em?" Jennifer asks warily. Emily raced to her and hugged her tightly. "Whoa! What is all this about?" Jennifer exclaims as she tries to pry Emily off of her. Emily let her go and left into the hallway, leaving her to close the door and take off her coat in wonder. Emily came back with Jake and he gave a sigh of relief and sat down on the couch.
"You sure did give us a scare!" Jake huffs out, exasperated. Jennifer laughed and sat down on the couch next to Jake. Emily did the same.
"Where in the world were you!?" Emily asks her. Jennifer removed her hat. "I went to talk to James." Jennifer admits, blushing. Jake saw this and started to laugh. His laugh filled the house. "What is it Jake?" Before Jake could tell Emily why he was laughing, Jennifer ran to Emily's room, where she was staying.
"Oh no you don't!" Jake yelled, running after her and squeezing through the door before she could close it. "Dang it!" Jennifer breathes out. Emily ran in after Jake, just in time to see him picking up Jennifer. "Ok, ok! Put me down!" She squealed. Jake sat her down on the bed and he sat down next to her.
"I saw you blush!" Jake accuses, making Jennifer blush again. "You like James don't you!" Jake continued. Jennifer sighed. "Fine I admit it." She gives in to their teasing. Emily laughed. "Did you already give him your number?" She questions eagerly. Jake looked at Jennifer with laughing eyes. "Yes." Jennifer face-palmed as she groans.
"Ha!" Jake laughed out, picking Emily up and twirling her around,a bored expression on his face. "Why do you always have to twirl people?!" She asks, frustrated with him. He dropped Emily down on her bed. "Cause you're just fun to twirl." He shrugs as he responds.
Jennifer ran into the living room to answer the door when she heard a knock. She peeped through the key hole and saw James standing there. She smiled and opened the door.
"Hey!" She greeted, motioning for him to come in and sit down. "I thought I mine as well stop by since I was so close. Plus I wanted to see you again." He admits, a pink blush moving up his face. Jake and Emily stood in the hallway listing to their conversation. "Well, I'm certainly glad you did!" She says, a bit too excited to see him.
