I walked home today.

I saw A in the distance as I was walking up the hill. Sounds creepy but, I've known him for to years as of tomorrow, so I could recognize him.

He waited to be picked up by his parents by the curb, occasionally glancing at the far side of the road.

I tried to walk behind him as quietly as possible, since we've been awkward around each other lately for some reason. I turned up my music really loud to distract myself as I rushed past him.

As I got to the crossing guard, I couldn't tell if he was looking at me or at the road. I simply ignored it and crossed.

I had the lingering anxiety thinking that he was walking behind me. I tried to drown out the thought by putting my music even louder.

As I turned the corner, I checked over my shoulder at the path behind me, no one in sight, which calmed my nerves.

Then I made it home.
