Blake was staring at a map. He kept looking at buildings and then shaking his head. I was starting to wonder how smart this guy really was.
"Hey Nate," Blake started. I looked at him, "I don't understand how to read this map. It's all papery." I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. I took the map out of his hands and examined it.
"That way," I said. Blake snatched the map back.
"I knew that," he said, "I just need a GPS. These old fashioned maps are confusing." This time I did roll my eyes.
Blake and I walked towards the location that Mason mapped for us. Blake got us lost again. He turned the map upside down. I sighed. At this rate we're never going to get there. I looked over Blake's shoulder and pointed north.
"That way," I said. Blake huffed and started forward. We finally reached the building.
"Finally," Blake breathed, "this was beginning to turn into a field trip. I was thinking we weren't going to set up before it was too late. We still have school tomorrow." I nodded. Blake peeked into a window, "It looks like we can get in through here." Blake lifted the window up, "Can you give me a boost?"
"Yeah," I said. I cupped my hands and he stepped into my hands. I raised him up and he climbed through the window. I jumped up and pulled myself in. I landed with a thump on the dirt floor.
"This place is a mess," Blake said, "I don't think it even has power. But that's okay if it doesn't. I have a wireless energy source." I cocked my eyebrow, "It's complicated." He started walking around and putting up small cameras. We entered a large room, "This is probably where they make the exchange. I'll have to put up a lot of devices. This may take a while." I shrugged and Blake got to work with his techy stuff. I began looking around. I didn't see anything too important.
"All done," Blake said after a half an hour passed, "We can go now." Something fell.
"Shit," someone hissed. I grabbed Blake and shoved him against the wall. I put my finger to my lips signaling him to keep quiet. I peered around the corner. Two guys walked into the room. I couldn't tell who they were.
"Maybe they're Reapers," Blake whispered. I shrugged.
"This place is a dump," one of them said. He kicked a box, "who would hang out here?"
"Apparently the Reapers do," the other said.
"They're not a part of the Reapers?" Blake questioned, "I wonder what they're doing here then."
"Are you recording this?" I whispered. Blake nodded. He handed me a wireless headphone. He pulled up his sleeve and pushed some buttons on his watch. An image of the two guys was showing.
"Where's the Reaper?" the first one asked, "he said he'd be here."
"I don't know man," the other said," Be patient." The other guy sighed. A new person entered the room.
"Hello gentlemen," the new guy said, "I'm a Reaper. I'm one of the messengers."
"It's about time you showed up," the impatient one said.
"Sorry it took so long," the messenger started, "I was making sure I wasn't followed."
"So what's this about?" the second guy asked.
"My leader has a message for you. He wants you to go back to your leader and ask him to join the Reapers."
"Ha! Our boss would never join another gang," impatient said, "he'd die before that happens."
"That could be arranged," messenger said, "This is more of a negotiation. Either your leader joins us peacefully or we kill him and take over by force." The impatient guy walked over and grabbed the messenger's collar.
