Training programs for his job tended to be painstaking. Not much contact with the outside world was permitted. One night, however, Cannon and a couple of his friends had sneaked out, hoping for a little bit of fun.
This was all before Cannon had chosen to actually try in his new job. When the group of teenaged fairies made their way into the town, they split up, some of them going to the cafe, and some just disappearing.
Cannon had gone over to the cafe with three other boys. They had barely sat down and picked up the menus before the door had slammed open. The people in the room who didn't have wings immediately went glossy-eyed. They all stood up as one and moved towards the doors, until only the four fairy boys were left.
The boys looked at each other and stood up, making their way towards the door as the air chilled. Their breath turned to steam and before they could take one more step, three figures blocked the doorway, two big and one small.
Cannon's eyes were inexplicably drawn to the smaller figure, noticing the feminine curves accentuated by obviously tight fitting clothes.
Three of the boys threw themselves forward, hoping to overpower the men and make a daring escape. There was a blur of movement, and all three of the boys were caked in ice, shimmering in the dim light like skillful sculptures.
The three figures in the door way stepped forward, light illuminating their features. The two larger figures were men, both with short, black hair.
The one on the right of the girl was slightly shorter then the one on the left, and hag dark blue eyes. The one on the right had a more hunched figure and bright blue eyes.
Cannon's eyes barely swept over the two men before returning to the girl. Her hair was black with a shock of white framing the right side of her heart-shaped face. Her eyes peered out from under long, dark eyelashes, the stormy gray color seeming to swirl and sparkle like actual clouds.
Her skin was pale, and looked like it should have clashed with the darkness of her hair, but they formed more of a classic color scheme that looked just right for her.
Her lips were the only color on her, a faded rose color that turned up at the corners, giving her a slightly amused expression. She was short, but something about her just made her seem bigger.
Her eyes met Cannon's and the slight smile on her face widened, showing off a flash of white teeth. Cannon felt locked in her gaze, an icy pit growing in his stomach, but a warmth seemed to be growing along with it.
The girls smile wavered and she looked at him in disbelief. For a second Cannon didn't know what was going on, then he looked down and realized that their was ice crawling up his legs. The ice tried to grow higher, but a strange light kept dancing in front of it, melting it before it could reach above his calves.
He looked back up at the girl just in time to see a fist coming towards him. It collided with his jaw and pain erupted, but he barely had time to register it before the world went black and he collapsed to the ground unconscious.

Cannon shook his head, pulling himself out of the memory and entering the classroom. He couldn't let thoughts like that destract him. He had a job to do.
