Kali's POV
BING. The bell rang and I ran downstairs to get into the lunch line. I saw Mario sprinting down the hall. He pulled up behind me. "Hey, Mario, boy do you like hamburgers," I said with a smile.
"Yeah, but I wish it was hotdogs," Mario said with a grin. I started laughing my head off. We had an old friend names Kevin who told the most dirty jokes of all time. I got my food and sat down at my spot at the table.
I look across the room and there he was. His chiseled jaw glowed in the sunlight. We caught eyes. He smiled at me. I smiled back. I could see it now. Use kissing in the back seat of his red Camaro. Until recently, that's all I could think of.
I put my tray on top of the garbage in the slot. I went straight to my locker to get my history book. I opened it. A note fell. I picked it up. I was now shaking. I opened it. In big letters it said HOMECOMING? I turned around, my heart sank down to my feet.
Matthew was there with a big sign that said, CHECK YES OR NO. I wanted to drop to the floor crying. I went up to him and checked YES. I grabbed the sign and sat it down against the lockers. I let my body take control of me. In that time, we hugged.
I walked home, daydreaming about Saturday night. I had to go shopping fast. It had just hit me I had 4 days to go. I ran home in the blazing hot sun. My hair felt as if it were in fire.
I got into the house and ran to my room and grabbed my credit card. "Mom!" I yelled.
"What?" she asked back.
"Can I take the car to go to the mall? I was asked to homecoming!"
"By who? And yes you can take the car."
"Matthew Jameson asked me."
"Ok. Have fun. Are you meeting your friends there?" Truth is I hadn't seen Mario or Jess the rest of the day after lunch.
"Yeah," I said as I walked out the door. I pulled out my phone and called Jess. I told her to meet me at the mall. I did the same with Mario.--Thanks guys for reading again. It will get way better soon.
