"Watch out!" Crow yelled, pushing Nightwing out of the way. Crow grunted in pain as the bullet hit her shoulder.
"Crow!" Robin yelled. He was running toward her but tripped when the second shot was fired.
"R-Robin. Nightwing." Crow coughed out. She fell backwards, falling off the warehouse roof and into the water behind her.
"Crow!" Nightwing yelled. The Joker's laugh heard in the distance. Robin watched as the Joker begun to walk away. 'He is going to pay!'
"Robin! Help me get Crow. Batman can get Joker!" Nightwing yelled. Robin stopped. 'He's right. Crow is more important.' Robin ran over to the edge of the roof.
"I'm going to jump." Nightwing declared. Robin nodded, going to the other side that had land. Robin waited as Nightwing dived into the water. Seconds passed and Robin was becoming jumpy. 'What if he can't find her? Is she still alive? What if she's dead?' Nightwing's head popped out of the water. He pulled Crow's body up to the surface and started swimming as fast as he could with the extra weight. Robin watched, feeling helpless. When Nightwing got to the shore Robin was right there, worry clear in his eyes. Nightwing checked for a pulse. 1 second. 2 seconds. 5 seconds. Nothing.
"She's dead." Nightwing choked out, pain flooding his chest.
"Nightwing. Robin. Crow. I got the Joker. Is everything okay on your end." The two heard Batman's voice on the other side of their earpiece.
"We lost. We lost Crow." Robin choked out, guilt flooding him.
"Come back to the cave." Came Batman's cold reply. Robin and Nightwing nodded, knowing he couldn't see them. They could tell Batman wasn't going to take this well and if his cold reply was any kind of hint to them that he was going to blame himself then they would have thought he didn't care but they knew him.
"Let's go little wing." Nightwing tried to sound okay. As if his partner hadn't just died. Robin nodded, watching Nightwing pick up Crow and walk away. Robin ran up to him, tears threatening to fall.
"Wait till we get to the cave little wing. Then you and I can cry as much as we need too." Nightwing whispered. Robin mumbled out an okay holding his tears back the best he could.

The walk back to the cave was long and painful. Batman stood in front of the bat computer, waiting. When they entered he saw Nightwing carrying Crow. Her body didn't move and her outfit was stained with blood on her shoulder and chest above the heart.
"Crow." Batman whispered. Nightwing set Crow's body on the medical bed waiting for her.
"How?" Batman asked. Nightwing took his mask off followed by Robin.
"She," Nightwing choked.
"Dammit, Dick! How!?" Batman yelled.
"She was shot okay Bruce!" Robin yelled, tears falling off his face. Dick walked over too Robin and pulled him into a hug.
"Let it out little wing. Let it out." Dick whispered but Bruce heard it. The pain in both Dick's and Jason's voice.
"Who?" Bruce was going to beat the hell out of anyone who dared to take his daughter from him and hurt his sons.
"Joker." Dick replied. Batman growled. That man keeps ruining everyone's life.
"I'm going." Bruce stated, getting in the batmobile and driving out of the cave.
"How could he!? His daughter is dead! Alice is dead and he just leaves!?" Jason yelled.
"He's going to be back. He just has some unfinished business to attend to now." Dick replied.
"Master Dick. Master Jason. Should I go get Mistress Alice's black and blue dress?" Alfred sighed, entering the more-then-usual gloomy cave. Dick nodded looking at his sister. She still had her mask on. Dick grabbed the side slowly pulling it off.
"Alice." Dick mumbled, tears falling from his eyes again. It was only two months before their birthday. Not even a full month after Jason's birthday. He had got her a blue and black dress that she had been looking at for weeks. It wasn't as expensive as all her others and anyone could have bought it but he could tell that to her it was worth more than the given price. Bruce had even planned on taking her to the Young Justice League Headquarters with them a week before their birthday. 'How could this even happen?' Dick thought. Jason watched as his older brother stared at their sister. He knew those two close but not this close.
"How long would it have been until her birthday?" Jason asked, dreading the answer.
"Our birthday was in two months on November 11." Dick sighed. Jason's eyes widen. 'They were twins?'
"I know what your thinking, Jason. No, we're not really twins. She was going to be adopted into my family before my parents were killed. Bruce took us in and the rest you know. We became siblings from there." Dick said. Jason looked at Alice's face.
"At least she looks at peace." Jason sighed, trying to reassure himself that she didn't die with any regrets.
"As if she was only sleeping." Dick agreed. Alfred came back down and started to clean Alice's dead body up. Preparing it for the world to know that Alice Wayne died in a shooting elsewhere and not from getting shot by the Joker while being Crow, Batman's sidekick.
