It was my eighteenth birthday and once again I'm sitting alone. No friends. No family. No job. Just school, sometimes not even that. I scan the little café for people who might recognize me and start stuff. The little lady at the cash register gave me a mini free cupcake with a single used candle. The cupcake was cute at least. It was chocolate with vanilla frosting and little rainbow sprinkles huddling together at the center. I barley took a nibble when--BOOOOOOOOOM!!! A huge explosion sent me flying to the ground, glass shattering all around, tables threatening to stab through you if you dare stand up, and smoke floated to the ceiling and out the hole in the wall. A few minutes passed and I figured it was safe. Slowly I stood up. I look around at the gruesome sight. Everyone is dead. Except me. How is that possible? I was right next to the explosion. A few people had cracked their skulls on the counter a little too hard, others had glass shards through their body and the rest had wooden stakes covering their bodies. They were disgusting. Their blood flowed slowly out of some bodies and quickly out of others. I wanted to throw up. I turned towards the hole in the wall and started walking towards it. KABOOOOOOOOM!!!! Another explosion to my left threw me all the way to the back wall across the now destroyed café. I slammed into the wall and looked up to see a bunch of rubble heading straight for me. Not wanting to end up like the rest of them I stood up and moved away from that spot. Of course the rubble was still coming towards me. I ran over to the hole in the wall but a piece of wood shot straight into my stomach. I make it outside screaming at the pain shooting through my body and five black vans speed in front of the café. The doors slammed open and men dressed in all black jumped out holding guns and pointing them at me. They crowded around me. Their faces were hidden by masks. I fell to my knees feeling too weak to think about what was happening. One man stepped through the circle of guards and knelt down in front of me. He shot out a hand and tightly grabbed my chin. I don't know how I managed to stay conscious but I did. His eyes bore right through mine. After a minute my eyelids started to feel heavy and all I wanted to do was close them. He looked at a man, who had appeared behind him without my realizing it, and nodded. The other man wasn't wearing a mask and I saw a mix of emotions I couldn't name before his face went stone blank. I looked back at the man in front of me right before I saw the butt of the gun heading right for my face. Smash! Impact. I lost conscious soon after.
