black noise

I've always known I could never live in a place where it snows
and the ground freezes into ice,
but I could never deny the beauty of the cold, vast white.
in the dead of night when snow is falling,
my breath before me
the only sound I hear -your footsteps-
it's all white, but not quite white noise
                                   quite ironically
it's all black noise.

so empty
so cold
just your figure in the white

this,
dear one,
is what I see
when I look into your eyes.
you'll never be my home, but your beauty is
and always will be
remembered in my mind.
