(A/N: I made a little change to the book, one that won't affect it too much. I took out Ali's sister, just to make the book a little less complicated at the beginning. Anyways, make sure to rate and leave a comment telling me your opinions about the chapter!)

Episode Two: One Down, Two to Go

After pulling into Rushmore Elementary School, I pulled the car into a parking space and put my baby in park.

"So how are we doing this?" I asked Ali.

"We just walk in I guess," Ali confidently replied as she unlocked the doors, opened the passenger side door, and walked out of the car. I hurriedly jumped out of the car to follow her while relocking the doors. After we buzzed in and entered the building, we could tell something was off. The atmosphere felt thick and tense. I'm just freaked out about earlier, I need to stop being paranoid, I thought to myself.

"Soo.. Where's Little Bennie's classroom?" Ali questioned.

"Down this hall, passed the main office, and to the left," I quickly answered after remembering that Ali called Benji by that cute nickname she gave him when he was born. The tension in the air had already begun to suffocate me, and all it made me want to do is leave as fast as I could.

"We're almost there, we just have to stop at the office and tell them we're calling Benji out," I muttered after Ali started to becoming antsy. Finally, the office, I thought as I smiled. I reached out my hand for the door handle of the main office, and my hand was immediately slapped away.

"What'd you do that for!?" I screeched.

"You always knock first! What if one of those things are in there?!" she commented back, after which she took her fist and softly rapped her hand against the thick wood entrance.

"You're acting crazy, there aren't any 'things'," I whisper yelled at her, yet again reaching for the door handle.

"Then what was that back at the school? You're just in denial, Jess. We've watched all of the episodes of The Walking Dead together, haven't you picked up on any of that?" she angrily murmured.

Of course I have, I just never thought to bring it in real life. I'm not in denial, I'm just realistic, I thought. I shrugged what she said off and continued opening the door. As soon as it opened I could smell death emanating from the room. Before I could quickly scan the entirety of the room, a figure emerged from the shadows quickly coming my way.

"And now we go!" Ali shouted as she pulled me away from the room and shut the door, hopefully trapping what was a secretary inside. "I told you so," was all she mumbled as we made our way to Bennie's classroom. "Wait!" she stated as we were about to pass the janitor's closet. Ali ran inside for a couple seconds, coming back out with two brooms, throwing me one after telling me to 'Catch'. "Now we're ready," she said while winking at me.

We finally made it to Benji's classroom. Ali and I busted in, totally freaking out both the teacher and the other kindergartners. After telling the teacher I was Benji's sister and I was here to get him, she looked a little relieved, but still apprehensive.

"Well you need to stop at the office and get a guest pass," Benji's teacher started, "and the secretary will have to call and say he has parental permission to be released to yo-,"

"We don't have time! The secretary was a zombie and would have killed us! We need to leave now!" Ali screamed.

"Ali! You're scaring the other kids!" I shouted. The younger kids were staring at us with a mixture of awe and freight. "We just need to go", I whispered in Ali's ear. "My mom will call you!" I yelled back at the teacher as we hauled Benji out of the room.

By the time the three of us reached the car, the elementary school was in chaos, children running around, parents trying to stop by and take their children home, and teachers trying to control all of the kids.

Someone must have opened the office door, I realized when I heard a scream. I must have been in shock because none of this seemed to fazed me. All I wanted to do was get Brett and Mitch and go home to my mom.

"Let's step on it," Ali told me after we sat in my car for a few seconds in shocked silence.

"Where are we going?" Benji asked.

"We need to stops and get Brett and Mitch at their private school downtown," I uttered as I hastily made a left turn on my way out of Rushmore Elementary School's parking lot.

One down, two to go.
