"Hey, white girl!" A man barked from his booth late in the evening during my shift. "I need a refill." He carelessly waved his glass in the air. Swallowing my fear, I hurried over and took the empty glass. Faintly, I remembered that he had coke. I turned and started to scurry toward the front where the fountain drink machine was.

But I didn't notice a man getting out of his seat until it was too late. Colliding into him, the glass fell from my hand and broke upon impact with the floor. The both of us stumbled but we eventually regained our balance, but a shard of glass managed to cut the stranger on the hand. "I'm so sorry!" I gasped, quickly grasping the wounded hand just as the man took in a sharp breath out of pain.

When my hands touched his wound, it started to sew back together with a soft white glow. "You. . ." The stranger muttered. I looked up into his wide brown eyes. I noticed that he had little hair on his head and wore a suit with the logo BPRD stitched on it. Wondering what that stood for, I forgot about everyone else until my boss came rushing over.

"Sanjna!" He cried as he took my hands in his, inspecting them for any injuries. I didn't notice I was shaking until he stroked my wrists soothingly. Looking up into all the curious faces in the restaurant, he announced in his deep, clear voice. "I am sorry for the commotion. It was merely a slip of the hand. Please continue your meals."

I let out a shaky breath. "Thanks, Vincent."

"No problem. . ." Vincent said slowly as he looked at the almost-bald man looking at me weirdly. "Hey, man, you okay?"

"Hm? Ah, yes. Thank you. . ." The stranger smiled before continuing on his way to the restroom.

Vincent watched as he left before his blue eyes looked at me with concern. He was always like an older brother to me, always looking out for me, always making sure I was fine. "Hey, Sanjna," He muttered, grasping my forearm and leading me to the counter at the front.

"You should head home for tonight, I'll still give you the paycheck for this month, don't worry." He added with a small smile. "I know that your parents are on a tight budget right now. Go change and head home safely."

I nodded and managed a small smile. "Thanks, Vin, for everything you've done."

"No problem kiddo."

Taking my small bag, I waved to Vincent before exiting the small restaurant. Letting out a breath and see it form into a small cloud before me, I tightened my scarf around my neck. It seems that winter is coming.

Screams in the direction of the Auction House made me look over curiously. Were those screams of excitement? Anticipation? I shrugged in the end, not caring. Looking both ways for incoming cars, I crossed the road and turned right to head towards the station. Shivering from the cold, I quickened my pace and started down the steps into the subway station.

I smiled in satisfaction as I watched the Tooth Faeries that I had let loose devour the humans alive for a few moments before exiting the Auction House. I trusted Mr. Wink enough to let him handle the situation and go through with the plan.

Once I exited the building, I took in a sharp breath as I saw the pale haired girl from the subway station. She came out of the building just a few blocks away. Quickly slipping into the shadows, I stayed as still as a statue just as she looked in my direction.

Sanjna. . .

It was her. Right there, before my eyes! But why was she wearing mundane clothing? My beloved would not lower herself to such levels. But oh, her face remained the same, unscarred and fair. Her hair still long and tinged just the right shade of golden at the tips. That softness in her eyes.
