This is the first book in a series I am writing called Angels Have Fallen. They are love stories between an angel and a fallen angel, with a larger story arc of a family (means characters from other stories can and will show up in the story).
The other two books are called Obsidian and Steady Flame, and will be up as soon as I get to writing them, which will be sometime after this, as I want to go in order.
Necessary Information (this is common knowledge to most characters, and so might be referenced without an explanation):
One's Destined is their perfect partner.
This only refers to Angels, and Fallen
It DOES NOT have to be romantic. However, it almost always is, because your Destined is the one that matches with you perfectly. Fallen are instinctively driven for it to be romantic. For angels, it can be romantic or not. It can be a purely platonic relationship (mine obviously aren't because of the fallen factor, I have plans for a story revolving around this factor planned if anyone is interested, and you will see some of it in the books as well).
You just know they are your destined, and you feel comfortable around them.
No sparks!
No getting lost in their eyes stuff.
Angels are born with wings, or receive them while toddlers.
Because Angel wings are magic, you only shed one feather, which promptly disappears into the Netherspace. You eventually learn to summon the feather out, and put it back. This one feather is given to your romantic partner. It works like wedding rings. If you have the magical know-how, you can permanently place your feather on a part of your partner's body. This is especially useful if they are not angels or fallen and cannot access the Netherspace.
Also because of the magical part of wings, they tend to go through certain things, such as clothes (this doesn't mean that angels don't prefer to have nothing blocking their wings, because they do...) and once again, if you have the magical know-how you can control what they go through.
The Netherspace can also be used for storage, and perfectly preserves everything once inside (Everything comes out exactly how it was when it went in).
Angels have different classifications, that are kind of like college majors. You decide which one (or ones) you wish to mainly follow. You can also choose to study lower extra ones, kind of like minors. This is called a faded classification. Upon being deemed a master, comparable to graduation, you receive a mark that represents your 'major' or classification. This appears on your body, like a tattoo, and can be moved wherever you wish by you willing it there because they are magic. A mark for a 'minor' is lighter/faded (hence the name heh heh) than one for a 'major' . You can choose to not select any one specific classification, and instead become simply proficient in most of them. This too receives a mark. There is no 'minor' option for this classification. After receiving a classification you can either get a job that relates to your mark(s) or start on another. Some major classifications are:
Warrior- they fight, enough said
Almost never get along with strategists
Must master one weapon and be proficient in three others (proficient in two for faded classification)
Hate strategy usually (reason for first one)
Mark is silhouette of mastered weapon (or favored if faded) with initials on handle/hilt
Scholar- book nerds basically
Must pass test given by a full fledged scholar
Mark is open book with their name on the pages
Strategist- the combination of a scholar and a warrior, they know strategy (obviously)
Must pass test on strategy and earn a faded warrior classification.
Rather level-headed, but conniving little things when they want to be.
Mostly believe warriors are a bunch of impulsive idiots who won't listen to reason. (Because they usually are)
Mark is a closed book with the faded warrior mark on the cover (initials included).
Healer- doctors. (Don't add a 'who' or 'strange' to that.)
Very disorganized, but can find everything. (Don't ask how, no one knows)
Must successfully treat fifty patients while under supervision. (Little things count. Giving fifty little kids band-aids totally works. You just have to have an actual healer watching.)
Mark is a bandaged wing with their name on the bandage.
They have no concepts of surnames. All angels, all fallen, and all demons have the same surname, consecutively, for when they visit Earth. A few have adopted others.
Angels: Astor
Fallen: Solis
Demons: Korm
(Angels are oblivious to this point) Fallen have large amounts of magic around them, ('cause they are cursed) and therefore make rather strange things when procreating. Here's the list.
Two fallen do not make a fallen child. This creates a demon.
A fallen and a human will have a vampire. This result will also come from a fallen turning a human.
Vampires are fallen humans.
A fallen and a supernatural creature will create a Shade*. A shade formed with a shifter, such as a werewolf, will take on a shadowy version of what would have been their shifted form. Any other supernatural will take a shadowed human shape.
This does not apply to vampires.
Fallen and vampires will make a demon.
*Since my friend who was reading this over for me was confused, this is my definition of a shade: A figure made of shadows. They tend to work like dementors, except they feed off of the fear they produce, not happiness. I doubt they will show up much, but who even knows...
