Spencer stood in front of the church waiting for Eliza to show up with the bride. He observed as people began arriving as he was early. A man with chestnut hair and green eyes wearing a white suit looked nervous as he got out of the car. Spencer knew that he was the groom, Nicolas Galen.
"Nervous?" Spencer questioned as the man approached him.
"That is an understatement, I am completely terrified that I will forget my vows. I don't believe we've met, I'm Nicolas Galen," Nicolas said.
"Doctor Spencer Reid, I'm Eliza's date."
"Ah, that explains it, she doesn't really bring people to family gatherings. Are you a medical doctor or do you have a PhD?"
"I actually have three PhDs in Mathematics, Chemistry and Engineering. So no I am not a medical doctor to answer your question."
"Well aren't you a smart one. What do you do for a job?"
"I work in law enforcement."
"I'm an architect, I actually designed the house Sophie and I are going to live in. Uh, here's my card if you ever need me, a friend of a friend is a friend of mine. Well I'm going to go inside as I am sure Ryan has a bottle of vodka to help me calm my nerves."
Spencer opened his mouth to tell him a statistic about how alcohol affects the body but was too late as Nicolas entered the church. Suddenly it was Spencer the one that was nervous. He asked himself questions like if he had worn the correct shirt and tie or if he should have taken the time to style his hair differently. Soon enough Eliza and the other bridesmaids pulled into the church. He was taken back a bit by how beautiful she looked.
"Eliza, you look gorgeous," he stuttered.
"You don't look half bad yourself," she told him. "Sophie will be arriving with my mother in about twenty minutes. Dress malfunction."
"I see, well I met Nicolas. He seems like a nice guy. A bit nervous but that's what weddings to do you."
Eliza smiled. "Why don't we walk in together."
She extended her hand which Spencer took. They walked inside as they held hands. The groom was with his best man and soon to be father in law trying to calm down. They sat down in one of the pews and decided to chat.
"Do you like weddings?" Eliza questioned.
"I haven't been to many," he signed back.
"Same, I haven't been to one in years."
The wedding ceremony took place then the photos right outside the church before they all got into a limousine to go take pictures at a nearby park before the reception. Then finally they arrived at the party. Eliza hadn't been able to find a moment to change out of the dress as the food was served. He was seated next to Eliza and the rest of her family.
"We haven't been formally introduced, I'm Eliza's father Ryan Hayes," Mr. Hayes spoke. "This is my wife Stella and my son James."
"Nice to meet you all, my name is Doctor Spencer Reid," Spencer replied.
"What's your occupation?" Mrs. Hayes questioned.
"I work as an FBI agent."
"That's wicked cool," James said. "Uh I work as a comic book artist."
"I'm a pediatrician and my husband is a lawyer," Mrs. Hayes added.
"FBI huh? Aren't you a bit young?" Mr. Hayes questioned.
"A bit, but I have an IQ of 187, can ready 20,000 words per minute and have an eidetic memory," Spencer stated.
"He looks so lifelike," James said as he stared at Spencer.
