Spencer had woken up earlier than everyone else and took a shower in the guest bathroom. Eliza had woken up after he was dressed and got ready for the day too. Both were used to the others sleep schedule and morning routine.
"I'll feed River, make sure she's with you and Sophie today. It'll make me feel better."
"Of course Spencer." She kissed him.
Spencer's head rested on her shoulder after he pulled away. He found the smell of her shampoo relaxing and the touch of her hair soft. "We need a vacation from my job," he declared after he stood up straight.
"Spain is rather nice this time of the year. Or London, it's always good weather there."
"I'll see if it's possible, but I was thinking of visiting my mom."
"Of course, such a sweetheart, mama's little boy."
"Well I did grow up in a single parent household."
"And I'm going to yell at your dad when I meet him."
"You'd have to meet him first."
Eliza smirked as she walked into the kitchen. Nick was reheating the left overs for breakfast while Sophie made some tea. Spencer opened his mouth to say something.
"Before Spencer says any facts I will point out that this is decaf and I have read up on prenatal care," Sophie carefully spoke.
"I was just going to ask if I could have some coffee, tea isn't really my thing." He looked down as his shoes suddenly became the most fascinating thing in the world.
Nick directed him to the pot of coffee as they ate breakfast. Spencer and Nick were the first to get ready to leave.
"Spencer, out of curiosity what are your measurements?"
Spencer replied to the question then asked, "Why?"
"Just curious. Have fun and make sure to be home by two in the morning."
Eliza had promised to text Spencer if anything happened. Both guys got into the car and drove off. "I thought that maybe we could do some shopping first. Do a bit of a wardrobe change."
"Why the suggestion?"
"Just indulge my curiosity. I'd like to see what you'd look like in something other than cardigans and sweater vests."
"So dress more hipster?"
"More fashion forward. It'll be fun."
Go shopping with me, he said, it'll be fun he said. Those words ran through Spencer's mind as Nick handed him yet another shirt. He felt like Nick was enjoying this a bit too much.
"Hmm, I like these shirt. Nerdy but also semi casual. As for pants, that's not really an issue. What about shoes? I have just the thing," Nick muttered incoherent things as he continued to search through the store.
"Uh Nick?" Spencer was a bit worried. "Why are just looking at clothes for me?"
"Because Sophie thought you needed a wardrobe change. I did this for Eliza when we met, we chose some clothes for her work wardrobe and it seems the opposite for you."
"Some sort of initiation?"
"I prefer to call it tradition. So how has Dave been?"
"He's been fine, same as always I guess."
Nick looked through a rack of jackets. "I'm guessing he doesn't know about your relationship, but if anyone can give you dating advice it's him." Nick handed Spencer a leather jacket. "I won't tell him anything but Eliza is determined when she set her heart on something."
