Rachel’s POV

Aleah was going crazy, I swear. To be honest, I was terrified.

“No! You can’t wear that! Especially with those shoes! Really, Rachel? A dress mid-CALF? I bought that for like a job interview!” She rolled her eyes. After I had gotten out of the shower she told me to pick a dress from her closet. She had been working over a year for the money she had brought. So in other words: she’s spending it all on clothes. There were about twenty-five dresses that she had lined up, not to mention the only one that I had bought.

“Can’t I just wear the one that I bought?” I asked.

“Uh,” she looked at the dress I had bought from Forever 21, “No.” she shook her head defiantly. I groaned, falling onto the bed, “Here, just put on some sweats and a t-shirt so I can do your make-up,” she rubbed her temples. I obeyed quickly, no way was I going to be caught up in Aleah’s rage. She ordered me to sit on a chair. I did.

“Umm, not too much make-up please?” I asked, “I want him to, you know, like me for me,” I smiled but realized what I said, “Not that I want him to like me cause, you know me and Niall are just...friends. Oh golly, this is hard.” Aleah’s eyebrow raised and I could practically hear Katie smirking from her laying position on the bed, watching, “What?”

“Nothing…” Katie asked.

“Absolutely nothing,” Aleah added. What was up with them? Katie and Aleah looked at each other for a split second before bursting into laughter.

“THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID,” they both wheezed out.

“Oh guys! You know I didn’t mean it like that!”

“Oh my gosh! I just realized how dirty minded Niall is!” Katie said.

“He’s going to be saying that’s what she said the whole dinner,” Aleah hardly got the last part out before she started to laugh again. I wasn’t that bad was I? What if they’re right? He’ll be laughing that whole night at whatever I say.

“Rachel, you know we’re just kidding right?” Aleah asked after seeing my face.

“Umm,” I looked down, I was trying to hide the hurt that obviously showed on my face.

“Okay, well we’re just joking. Kay?” Aleah said, smiling.

“Yea, he’ll be too infatuated with how be-a-u-tiful you’re going to look to even realize what you’re saying!” Katie threw her arms into the air laughing. Aleah went back to work.

“So, I’m taking what you were saying into consideration and I think you’re right.”

“What?” I asked. Aleah never really agreed on what I said.

“I think we should keep it simple. We want Niall to like you for you,” she winked, “So I’m going to do cover-up and then a little eye liner and a dash of blush alright?” I nodded She went straight to work again. The make-up Aleah had bought here were pretty high tech so when I looked in the mirror there was virtually no blemishes on sight. My face looked smooth and my cheeks looked rosy.

“Oh! And I was thinking… I bought this dress for fun because I thought it was cute and I think it would look better on you than me, anyways,” Aleah ran around the corner to where she had more shopping bags.

“You don't have to--” I started.

“Shut up!” She shouted as her voice got muffled. Another minute later she came in with an adorable dress. It looked vintage, like it was from the 50’s or 60’s. It was a pale blue dress with a cut near the neck. I eagerly put it on. I’m wider in the hips than Aleah so I was afraid that it wasn’t going to fit me but surprisingly, it fit like a glove. She ran to me and slipped a lightly tanned belt around my waist that had a sparkly intricate metal clip in the center. She grabbed various shoes and made me try them on. After each one she would step back and shake her head no. Most of them weren’t so comfortable. In fact all of them were uncomfortable. I realized that the dress was maybe two inches longer than mid-thigh and I tried to pull it down.
