“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!”
“Wake up, sleeping beauty!” my boyfriend greeted me as I yawn. “We’re here!” he said.
“I had a really bad dream.” I rubbed my eyes.
“Was it about me?”
“I wish! I was drowning!”
“Again?”
“Yeah, I’m sorry. I hope it’s not a big deal.”
“Maybe we should go back, see your therapist.” He placed his hand on my cheek. “You don’t look so good.”
“I’m fine. I just don’t want to go in the water. It would be such a waste coming here if we do.”
“You’re right.” He leaned over and kissed me. He whispered “I’m just concerned for you. I won’t get into the lake if you want.”
He went out of the car and carried our bags from the trunk to the porch of the cabin. I got the groceries from the back and unlocked the door. Inside was so dusty. Nobody visited here for a while. My parents and I used to come here when I was young, but we never came back here for a long time. It’s my first time stepping foot in this cabin since forever. All those fond memories of us having fun here came flooding back. Now if this place was clean, it would be inhabitable.
