chapter 8

"Battle stations!" A deep voice roared.
We entered the hide out. A sleepy looking Ethan followed behind rubbing his eyes and trying to stay awake. He pushed his brown hair away from his eyes as he surveyed his surroundings. His mouth set into a grim line.

Rough himself just yawned and tried to hide a smirk as he fixed his red locks. His eyes met mine and he whispered "something obviously happened"

Well duh.

Everyone seemed to be staring at us with wide eyes. Security was up and and facing us, weapons drawn. Clearing my throat I asked  " can I know what's going on?" Confusion was laced throughout my tone and they all seemed to sense it as the atmosphere changed into one of anger and hurt.

A man pushed through the crowd gathered and crushed me into a hug. "There you are! We heard about a breach and what happened to that kid. Ethan? You've been missing for a long time Speakin of that where on earth have you been?" My father looked at me with this look in his eye. " and what is he doing here?" he pointed not so subtly at Rough.

" ok first thing first. Ethen and Rough both need 2 rest its been a long day and full of shocks. Second I need to call a private meeting with ms Arbitratus present its urgent and we had to take a Break half way and all fell asleep so uh yea.."

I said and afew moments later it all happened. Tony, a heavily tattooed man, took Rough roughly by the hand and muttered some words under his breathe dragging him along and Ethan hesitantly followed.

Ms Arbitratus came out and gave me a look which I'll admit made me feel queasy and sick.

Will I be able to pull this of?

Half and hour later

We were all sitting in a long office room. My parents one side with ms A opposite me and some others around me. They gave us all jinx syrup which allowed No one in the room to tell lies.

" you wanted a meeting? Now please speak up. You have 20 minutes. More if we find it worth it." ms A spoke and her look was unreadable.

" He wants to help us -" gasps were heard all around the table.
" his mum's giving him hell for everything. And planning to get rid of him."

" what do you mean get rid of?"

I stayed silent knowing I wasn't able to lie. Ms A bite her lip. "how do we know we can trust him?" A man spoke out. I looked at my parents who were with me. My dad held a proud smirk on his face and my mum was in deep thought.

" you can give him jinx syrup. He'll tell you the exact same thing." I stated boldly. i know Rough would, but that's only if he wanted to. I began feeling really uneasy. why did i think I would get help? well I'm here now. i might as well try to get some.

I took a deep breathe when everyone stopped talking.

'I wanted to know if there was anyone else who could take Roughs place?"

Nervous glances skittered accross the room and Ms A looked slightly panicked but it was quickly fixed.

"He has a blood sister. She was taken away for protection however ran away and caused such an uproar that everyone knew who she was. She couldn't just suddenly disappear. someone would notice. So we let her go and erased any data of her being traced back to us. Her mother gave up on finding her when she disappeared when she was younger. A relative took her in.... passed her on to us."

It was silent.

' We have someone who is watching over her right now.  She's a lot like you. before you tamed yourself.'

I tried to process this information. A lot like me? I realised what I had to do.

" I Need to find her." I spoke up looking at the whole room and hoping No one would try to stop me.

My parents suddenly sighed and looked me dead in the eye, ' there's something you need to know.  we were going to tell you when you were older.But you should know now.'  a silence look passed between everyone in the room.

' Rough is-'

A scream rang out and we were interrupted as the door flew open and Ethan ran in and jumped under the table. Rough walked inside a smirk on his face  ' oh Ethie. come out bro' 

" what is this?' Mrs A spoke with a outrageous look on her face.

" security! " voices spoke all at once and two men walked in.

One had blonde hair swept away with green eyes. Tiny almost none existent eye brows framed his tiny eyes.

The other had black curls littering his forehead. Contrasting to the other dude, this guy had thick eyebrows framing blueish Brown eyes.

They both wore blue shirts with black trousers and black shoes. What stuck out was the rainbow scarves in there hand and rainbow afro wigs placed in their hands.

Both wearing sheepish smiles as they tried to hide the wigs in there pockets.

What the......

First dudes name tag read Tim and the secound read Tommy. How similar sounding.

Rough used the scene to grab onto Ethan who let out a childish scream and clutched the table leg as if his life depended on it. Well, I guess to him it did.

"Is this Ethan?' My mother spoke as I made my way slowly to the buffoons.

Mrs A just blinked and cleared her throat " yeah. Thats him. He seems to look and behave abit different to when we spoke about adopting him "

I froze as my hand came across roughs and slowly tried to pry it of E.

" adopted?" My voice was barely a whisper.

Mrs A nodded a pleasant smile on her face " wern't you aware? He will soon be your new brother. His old home.... is currently off shall I say and he needs new parents who are willing to prevent him from going into wrong again."

I was silent trying to process everything I had just heard. My brother? An extra sibling. Wow...

" his background check wasn't ok. We are surprised it didn't come under our rador earlier actually."

Rough seemed to understand that the whole scene had become serious and let go of my.. brother as I quickly scooped him into a hug to calm him down.

" well anyway let's proceed into the meeting. The other two can join you on your mission' a women with beautiful brown hair cascading down spoke.

'Mission?' If Rough was a dog his ears would of went up and his tail wagging. He's only human though but that didn't stop his eyes lighting up.

I just rolled my eyes and helped E up.

" yea you are going undercover to protect ur sister "
