Sexual Assault

Before reading  or watching video, please understand that this is about sexual assault and there may be things in here that make you feel uncomfortable but there isn't anything too graphic.

Hey guys

So for my first topic I've decided to speak about sexual assault. This is a topic that people don't like talking about but it's also a topic that NEEDS to be spoken about and it's something I feel extremely passionate about.

Before you read anything else on this chapter, I want you guys to just click on the video above because when I watched that video I cried and I just couldn't believe that things like this are everywhere. So after watching that video I hope you guys were as touched as I was.

The truth is that sexual assault needs to stop like 50 years ago already. It's NOT okay to touch someone in a way where they feel uncomfortable or worthless. What type of human being does that to someone. I wish I could use the analogy of 'what if it was your daughter" but the sad truth is fathers are sexually harassing their daughters and mothers their sons.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

People say they feel inspired when something like the #metoo thing comes up but I'm horrified and scared. Not because of the motion but because of the amount of people who responded to #metoo.

Men or Women, Young or Old, Black or White, Rich or Poor.

The fact of the matter is sexual assault doesn't discriminate and it could happen to literally anyone. 

I feel like crying every night when I realise that I'm going to grow up in a world where I'm too scared to completely have fun at a party, too scared to fully trust my boss, too scared to step outside of my house after 6pm alone. 

I'm too scared to live.

What makes it worse is we live in a world where the president of a country will tweet that false accusations can ruin a persons life but forget to mention that victims will have nightmares because of one experience, they will be mentally and physically scarred for the rest of their lives, but no, the victims are forgotten and discredited.

After something like that being tweeted by a president, we wonder why victims are so scared to come out and share their stories. Not because they are weak but because they know that no one will believe them.

Recently I read this article about a teenage girl who was raped by two policemen on duty. They were free leave because they had everyone convinced that it was consensual sex. No one cared to question the facts that

1. She was a minor 

2. They were on duty

But everyone just believed the police officers.

People we need to raise awareness about this because I don't want my children to grow up with the same fears that I have to grow up with.

Spread the word, talk about sexual assault. Take it to social media and share the stories of victims because sexual assault must be stopped TODAY.

  Tag as many people to see this chapter because every single person needs to know what's happening in this world.Do research, read past stories and stay informed.  

Share the Halsey video with all your friends and family. Let people know what's happening to people all over the world. I can't live like this, you can't live like this and we all can't live like this.
