The Day We Met: Part 1

"Thank you young miss for destroying that demon thats been threatening our village. What can we do to pay you back." said the village leader. Tamarack was in the village leaders home after the children had brought her back with them. "It's fine, I was just passing by to get to the next town and happened to stumble upon the demon about to eat the small children. I will be on my way again for I have a job to accomplish." The two then stood up and shook hands. "Then I wish you a safe trip, the next town closest here will take about 3 1/2 weeks to get to." "Thank you." Tamarack pardon herself and left. She walked passed the market place and saw many things for sale, clothing, food, items, and jewelry. She purchased a few things and just as she was about to leave, she heard what sounded like children call after her.

"Wait please! Ma'am, demon slayer!" Tamarack stopped in her tracks and turned her head to see the two kids she rescued today was running through the crowd towards her. "Miss please, my mother would like to thank you and have you over to eat tonight." said the young girl as she had finally made it out of the crowd with her brother in her hand. "Yes please come over" chimed the boy as he let go of his sister's hand and grabbed Tamarack's instead. He gave his best pleading puppy dog face he could muster. This was such a cute sight before her and she couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face. Her destination was far away, and they had ran all the way here just to invite her to their home to eat, why not take them on their offer. "Okay, I'll come" The children's faces beamed with happiness and they all walked together to a small home with a few animals and a dog. Their mother then came out the door and welcomed Tamarack into her home.

"Miss Tamarack, I can't express in words how grateful I am that you saved the lives of my two children. Their father was eaten by that same demon, my daughter was six at the time and I had only a month left till I would give birth to my son. They are the only things that I have left here." The mother, Gloria, said as she was sitting in front of Tamarack with a cup full of herbal tea. her children had finished their meals and had gone to bed, leaving the two women to finally talk to one another. "Please, its my job to protect the people from demons." She said as she took her cup from the table and took a sip. The tea had a calming effect on her body as she drank. "I don't mean to be rude for asking, but how could such a pretty young girl such as yourself, slay demons for a living?" Tamarack, not surprised by this question, put her cup down and closed her eyes as she could think back to that day, as if it was just yesterday. She reached into a her bag and pulled out a small blue beautiful jewel hanging off a chain from a small red pouch. "This was my mother's. She was going to give this to me as soon as I turned of age," Tamarack then closed her fist around it and brought it closer to her heart, a far away look on her face. "But then our home was destroyed by a demon. It caught my mother, ate half of her, and then threw her away as it heard the men coming. Amongst the fighting, my mother, with her last strength, gave me her necklace and told me to live a long life, one with love and happiness." A single tear fell from her brown eyes and dripped onto her hand.

Gloria got up from her seat and wrapped her arms around Tamarack in a blink of an eye. "Cry my dear, its alright to cry. Tears are precious, they hold so many feelings and you've been through so much." Tamarack surprised by the sudden action, started to feel weak. Maybe because Gloria was a mother she naturally gave off a mothers warmth and kindness, one she was forced to part with. In an instant, she cried out everything she had bottled up inside her. All the pain, loss, and grief building up in her eyes and falling down her face. "Come sweet child, rest in my room for the night. You have a big day ahead of yourself." Gloria said as she led Tamarack, sniffling and hiccuping like a small child, into her room.

Demon's Lair

A small demon flies through a cave, into the dark abyss taking many different turns to its destination. After what seems like forever in the darkness, there is a dim red glow and sure enough, the small demon has made it. It flies to the red glow and then comes to face the dark lord in his chair, awaiting the news he brings. "My Lord, I bring you bad news. Everyday our numbers keep dwindling, and just today, the centipede demon that had control of a small village was....slain, by the very same kind that hunts us, the Demon Slayers. This one is named Tamarack. My-" but before the small demon could continue, the Demon Lord raised his hand. "No more, it seems that this girl, Tamarack, and the other Demon Slayers posses a threat to my plans. I need someone to take care of this problem." Suddenly the room started to fill with a strange green fog as hushed whispers and cries could be heard all around. "Ugh, does he always has to make an entrance like that." said the small demon unhappy with a bit of annoyance showing on his face. As fast as the fog came, it went, revealing a very handsome 'human' looking demon. "My Lord," the male said as he got down to his knee."Please, let me take care of this. You shouldn't waste your energy on these useless humans. I will personally take care of the problem." The demon lord turned his body around to face his subordinate. "Jack, its so good to see you again. How did the agreement with the demons in the North go." Jack got up and handed out a piece of paper. "It went perfectly. There were some who would rather just terrorize on their own, but after I showed them that that was the wrong decision, they eventually agreed with your plans and will support us in anyway possible. They were even so kind as to get you a gift." With the snap of his fingers, another puff of green smoke swirl into two small forms, eventually showing it to be... "I give you, twin sisters!" Jack said with a smug look on his face," I know how you have that weird craving for twins and its hard for you to get your hands on them, so just your luck, the demons in the North had a pair nearby."

The two girls unable to see where they were, started to cry for their parents as they held each other, petrified of the dark and what was in it. The Demon Lord then approached the two girls and put a hand on their shoulder. "Now now little one, this will just take a second." After a while the two girls eyes started to adjust to the dark, and how they wished they didn't. Because, before them, was a monster that could scare the living daylights out of anyone. The monster had a big snout, lined with razor sharp teeth, a huge dark unnatural muscular body, spikes coming from his back that trailed to his tail. Claws that look like they could tear through anything, and eyes illuminating with the thirst to devour the nearest poor soul. Sadly, the eyes of the monster held his gaze at the two small girls. Then in a swift movement the Demon Lord attacked the two girls, both screaming in fear and agony as he tore them apart. Only leaving behind their clothing and a pool of blood. "That was delicious. I have just one last task for you. I need you to exterminate a certain nuisance in my plan. This task is very important and dangerous." Jack, interested as soon as he heard the word 'dangerous' gave his full attention. "You must kill a Demon Slayer. Can I trust you with this job Jack." Jack once again goes on his knees and lowers his head, "I will not fail you. I will prepare a small group and go right away." And he left in a blink of an eye, leaving the small demon and the lord to talk about other plans.

A/N: Sorry it took me so long, been a little depressed and lazy lately, and I think I'm drawing this story out to long. idk but I will start the next chapter on my break at work. Anyways later and keep doing what you do best! ;)
