Chapter 5: A Beautiful Morning

The Same Night, After Your Date

You were walking back to the officer's quarters and when you arrived, you found your uncle walking back to his room when he saw you come in.

Shadis: Y/N, it's late. Where were you?

Y/N: Ohh, just making the rounds, showing a cadet of mine some more training techniques that they requested to learn.

Shadis: A cadet requested training? That's a first. Normally they shy away from extra training. Who was the cadet?

Y/N: U-Ummm, Cadet Leonhart, uncle.

Shadis: Leonhart...? The blonde girl?

Y/N: Yes. She had requested for me to teach her a few moves.

Shadis: Well, tell me next time. I don't want to have a search party find you dead and that girl covered in blood. You're my only family left.

Y/N: Yes, I know...sorry, uncle.

Shadis: I'll let it slip by for now, get some rest.

Y/N: Yes, sir.

He walked off back to his room while you walked to the kitchen to make a quick cup of tea and grab some rations. When you got back to your room however, you found yourself still full of energy. After drinking your tea and eating your rations, you tried to find a way to fall asleep. Laying in bed and closing your eyes didn't work, drawing and writing hadn't worked either, even working out in your room had no effect.

Y/N's Thoughts: Why am I not tired?

An image of Annie flashed in your mind and when you saw that smile, you couldn't help but smile yourself. Through the rest of your night, you spent at your desk with a paper, pencil, a candle, and your thoughts.

The Next Morning

Annie was laid in her bed sleeping calmly when suddenly she felt someone brush their finger across her face. She slowly opened her eyes, and when her vision adjusted, what she saw made her smile. You were stood on the edge of the bottom bunk so you could get close to her sleeping face.

Y/N: *whispers* Good morning.

Annie: *whispers back* Good morning.

Y/N: *whispers* I made some breakfast for us while everyone's still asleep. Care to join me?

Annie: *whispers* I'd love to. Let me just get ready.

Y/N: *whispers* Yeah.

You quietly got off the bunk and tip-toed your way out the women's barracks as Annie got out of bed and went into the restroom. When she looked in the mirror, that dead-pan, careless look was gone and instead replaced with a face full of life and happiness. She stripped out of her clothes and cleaned herself up before drying off and getting dressed. Instead of wearing a hoodie underneath her jacket however, she wore a plain white cropped t-shirt, and threw on her jacket with her sleeves rolled up with some regular grey pants. She walked out and breathed in the fresh air as she looked to the sky and smiled. However from the corner of her eye, she noticed the wall and was reminded of why she was here. She scoffed and smiled while looking towards the sky once more.

Annie: No more, I have what I want. Nothing could ever be greater than this....than him.

Annie walked to the cafeteria and saw that no one was inside, but she could smell food that she knew the cooks could never make. On a table were two trays of breakfast that looked like they were fit for the highest noble. The trays had eggs, bacon, bread, and cups of fresh coffee. She smiled when she saw you placing down the silverware and when you saw her, you walked over and kissed her lips and smiled.
