[Morbid Situation.]
Laura was woken up by an eerie light. She though for sure the day was going to break. 'Twas just the midnight sun grinning.
She barely grasped her memory. Fragments of it were caught in her whirlwind of thoughts. Before she could withdrew all of it from escaping, a man spoke.
"It's grave here, eh?"
Laura searched the world outside the bars but none. The words were close but she couldn't trace where it had come from.
Then a cold hand landed on her skin.
Laura screamed to find a man covered in filth and desperation. "Lamia!"
"Please, do not fear." said the man.
Laura tries to shape herself again. "What are you?"
"That is too impolite. I'm human but a raven caged by the townspeople."
"You were accused too?" Laura calmed herself down.
"I was caught."
"Of what crime?"
"Theft."
"You know this town had their eyes on the people with innocent skins-"
"It's not an accusation."
"What?"
"I have been the best pickpocket in town ever since I was a kid."
"And you weren't caught yet?"
"Also the best hider."
Laura remembers her childhood years. Every ounce of it hurts. She did not foresee her future living behind bars.
"At least yours was real." she deadpanned.
"I heard awhile back. This, I believe, is a fictionalised town that I never knew sorcery was still lurking in. Not of course if you were a shard of magic."
"Human. Like you." Laura began to sob.
She sobs.
Moonlight began to fade. The wolves are panic-howling.
Laura's heart bled and her eyes spat. Not too soon, she was swallowed by the black impurity, surrounding her, burning her very soul. It was time to accept things rapidly, she thought. Maybe, it will make her body succumb to feel pain. Like morphine.
Then it came out so sudden...
The man held Laura against his chest.
