"You whispered something last night." the man said while tilling a small, fertile plain.
Laura was invigorating the sun as much as it invigorates her soul. In spite of the coldness, the ends of her bodies felt warm. Laura was, once again, on the soiled surface of the outside world.
But Laura wasn't happy. It was still a cage. Only that, it's sunshine-filled.
"Pocket all the sunshine you can get, miss. Go back to work!" one of the guards commanded.
"Oh. Sorry." she apologised.
Laura shifted her gaze to one of the ploughs and started digging the already tilled land.
"What are you doing?" the man chuckled from behind.
"Uh... Planting." she scattered the seeds all over.
"What? You just wasted our ration."
"Ration?"
"Those are seeds to be planted in your stomach."
Laura looked at the paper bag. She laughed.
"Oh. Sunflower seeds. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Why didn't you ask?"
Moments sparked. The two were lost in their conversation that travelled from thoughts to thoughts. Some prisoners were eyeing the two. Laura was somehow pulling her hopes up high that when the hearing has come, she'll be freed from the cell and from her anxieties.
But sadness has its way of stabbing her merry heart.
"So, would you mind if I ask your name?" the man asked.
"No." she composed herself. "Laura."
Laura met his gaze. His warm, innocent eyes in total shade of black speak the whole part of his soul. Laura, behind her independent self, needed a haven to lock herself into. She needed to feel safe.
"Hunter." the man grinned.
Laura was the Iris, god of rainbow, who paints her own canvas.
Hunter, on the other hand, was the colours she needed.
