A few days later, Romano still avoided Rome's gaze. She felt awful, not having spoken to him for what felt like a long time. She had cried for hours in her room after he had yelled. It was scary to her...
One day, Feliciano (Romano's brother) came to her with some ravioli, knowing it was her favourite, and she turned it down. She didn't have the appetite to eat something Romano usually ate with her. Another day, she refused to not wear shoes, since it reminded her of running barefoot in the wildflower field with Romano and laughing.
"Romano..." she whispered one day whilst laying in bed, pale and nearly frail as she clutched a flower to her chest.
Everywhere she turned, Romano was there, in the tree they climbed, in the sunlight filled kitchen, and in the morning dewy grass outside her window. Everything reminded her of him, and Feliciano knew it had to end.
Feliciano opened the door to Romano's room without a knock and found his brother sitting on his bed.
"What do you-a want, Felici...?" He began to ask, and then he saw the sorrowful look on his brother's face.
"I-a want.... I-a want you and Roma to be-a happy again...." The innocent brother replied, and he sniffled. Romano turned away and frowned.
"It's not that a-simple... She betrayed not only me but US, Felici..." He says, and he looks at the ground, the sunny light fading from the sky. "She-"
"It was an accident!" Feliciano says, and he throws his hand to the door. "It is France's-a fault!"
Romano stands and looks at him. "Roma is strong! She would never let her walls be taken down by-"
"SO WAS POMPEII! NOW LOOK AT WHERE HE IS!" Feliciano yells unexpectedly, and be huffs. Romano looks at him with surprise and he sits back on the bed. "Greece..."
Feliciano takes his brother's wrist tightly and looks at him. "You must forgive her, for our sakes..."
Romano looks up at him, on the of brokeness, and sighs. He then nods and stands.
