Josephine’s POV

The sun shone brightly in my eyes and I opened my eyes, still half dead. Mom had opened the curtains and I’m blinded by the strong rays of sun.

“Get up, honey! You’re gonna be late for school!!” Mom said as she cleared the dirty clothes on the floor in my room.

“Five more minutes” I said as I tried to sleep back.

“Honey, it’s already 8am. You’re gonna be late if you continue sleeping. Dad will be mad too because he’s the one driving you to school.” Mom replied.

“Okay, okay. I’ll go take a shower now.” I sighed as I left the room to head to the bathroom.

I took a quick shower, careful not to wet my hair too much and brushed my teeth. I checked if there was any pimple which emerged overnight and headed out of the bathroom. I entered my room and looked through my wardrobe to get ready for school. I picked out my high-waist jeans and white tank top and put it on. I brushed my hair, making sure it’s not messy and sprayed some strawberry scent deodorant on myself. I grabbed my bag and climbed down the staircase to the dining table. Dad and Julian were already there, munching on their breakfast.

“Good morning Dad! Good morning Julian!” I greeted with a smile plastered on my face.

I kissed Dad on his cheeks and rubbed Julian’s head, messing up his hair.

“Hey!” Julian sulked but I just grinned at him.

“How’s my babygirl doing?” Dad asked with a wide smile on his face.

“I’m fine, Dad” I replied, returning his smile and sat on a chair opposite Julian.

Mom came out from the kitchen with my favourite waffles with whipped cream on it.

“Waffles with whipped cream for my favourite girl!” Mom said happily.

“Wow, thanks Mom!” I said and planted a kiss on her cheek.

The waffles were delicious, just like always. I love my Mom for making me waffles that I love. She’s like the best mother in the whole wide world. I drank my cup of chocolate milk while munching on it.

I was about to grab my last bite of waffle when Julian asked, “Does Nick like you?”

I coughed for a few seconds and looked at him, squinting my eyes. “Good question, Julian. I don’t know too. Why do you ask?” I replied, sounding casual.

“I don’t know. He seems weird lately. Tristan and I figured that he must have liked you.” Julian said.

“Well, Nick didn’t tell me anything. So maybe I guess nothing is happening. I’m on the look-out for him though, because I think he’s been acting weird lately too” I said.

“Yeah. Anyway, we better get going. I hear Dad starting up the engine of the car from the garage.” Julian replied.

I quickly finish drinking my chocolate milk and took my bag before kissing Mom on her cheek and leave the house.

“Bye Mom!” Julian and I said.

“Bye Julian, bye Josephine! Have fun in school and don’t be naughty!” Mom replied.

We waved her goodbye as Dad starts to drive down the road. In the car, me, Julian and Dad always have a mini conversation and we also always end up laughing.

Soon, we reached Julian’s school and Dad dropped him a block away from the school. Julian always told me he didn’t want his friends to see me and I don’t even understand why.

10 minutes later, we reached my school and I hugged Dad before exiting the car. As soon as I step foot into the school, I saw my best friends and walked to them quickly, giving both of them a big hug. My first class was going to start anytime soon so I quickly grabbed my 5 English books from my locker and shut it close before going to my English class.

As I was walking quickly to my classroom, with 5 thick books in my arms, I accidentally bumped into a girl and all of my books dropped onto the floor. My mouth opened as I see all my books messed up on the floor. I looked at the girl I bumped into and my eyes widened.

“Oh shit.” I said to myself.

“Oh, look who’s here. Josephine Elyse DeGuzman, the ICONic Girl. You think you’re go great, huh? Dancing all around America and seducing the guys with your body? Girl, your body is as big as an elephant and no guys will ever want you. And your dancing skills? It’s like a dog trying to learn how to swim. Look at yourself in the mirror, bitch.” Madeleine said, the school’s biggest drama queen, bitch, loser and enemy.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. “Girl, if you want to pick up a fight, you can, but not with me. Maybe that big guy over there,” I said as I pointed to the school bully.

Madeleine smirked and opened her mouth to say something but before she could say it, somebody came over and stood beside me.
