Vinny’s POV

I reached school at 8.55am that day, five minutes before school starts. All because of my stupid sister, Bianca! She took so long to get ready to drive me to school. I was kind of pissed during the whole journey in the car to school.

As soon as Bianca parked the car at the school carpark, I rushed out of the car without saying goodbye to Bianca. I looked at my watch and it was ticking. I still have a few more minutes before Literature class starts. I opened the school door and saw that the corridor was empty. I knew that I was one of the last to arrive. I ran to my locker, grabbed my Literature book and ran to my classroom. As I was running, a commotion caught my eye. Okay, maybe not really a commotion because no one was crowding around but I saw 2 girls, standing in front of each other and a pile of books messed up on the floor. I squinted my eyes to see who the 2 girls were.

One of them was wearing a short dress with extremely high heels. She had blonde hair with massive amount of make-up on her face. I immediately knew it was the school’s biggest bimbo, Madeleine. I hate her. I was about to turn away because I did not want to get involved in any situation with the biggest bimbo but the other girl caught my attention. Her figure was familiar. Her posture was familiar. Her long brown hair was familiar. I snapped my fingers a few times, trying to remember what her name was.

“Josephine!” I finally remembered her name.

Immediately, I walked towards Josephine and the biggest bimbo and instantly knew what was going on. The biggest bimbo was trying to pick up a fight with Josephine. As a friend, I defended Josephine. I stood beside Josephine and glared at the biggest bimbo.

From my vision pan, I could see that Josephine was staring at me, with her mouth opened.

“Get lost or deal with me.” I said fiercely at the biggest bimbo.

She raised her eyebrow before taking a step back, obviously afraid of me, and walked away, like a loser. That was easy, I thought.

As soon as she was gone, I crouched to help Josephine pick up her books. Luckily it was not a lot of books. After I picked them all up, I handed it over to Josephine, who was still shocked.

She took the books from me, knowing that I have been holding it for quite a while and she blurted out “thanks”.

I shrugged my shoulders and smiled before I started to turn away to get to my class. Before I could take at least 3 steps, I heard her calling “Vinny….”

I turned around and said “Yeah?”

She looked at her feet before looking at me and she mumbled, “Thanks for your help just now. I’ll treat you lunch later…. if you don’t mind….”

I was shocked at first, but I just smiled and gave her the ok sign before speeding off to my classroom. Luckily, I reached just in time for class. I plopped down on my seat and somehow, the first thing that came into my mind was Josephine. All the memories started to come back. All of our happy moments together and how we shed tears together because of me being bullied in school flashed in my mind. She was a really great friend, I realized.

I’ve known Josephine ever since I joined Icon Dance Complex. She guided me during my amateur days. She was the only friend I had when I was being bullied in middle school. She told me that she will always be there for me and she was a very very very caring girl. We were so close last time until I went to high school and she was still stuck in middle school. At that time too, we were separated into different dance classes and both classes start and end at different timings so we actually didn’t get to see each other much. When I went to second year in high school, I was surprised to see her join my school. I didn’t expect her to join my school actually. Even though both of us are in the same school now, we don’t talk to each other much, maybe because I have quitted dancing in Icon Dance Complex. We used to just say a simple ‘hi’ when we bump into each other…… until just now.
