Chapter 2

My fists clenched the stained white sheets in my hands, white knuckles, resembling the bleak walls, protruding and sweat trickling down my brow. My mouth gaping open, my lungs desperate for air. There was something pressing on my chest, halting any oxygen to my lifeless body that could only lay there helpless to this stranger.

A pounding in my head preventing any sort of decent thinking as I lay here, in a strange room, in a strange bed with some kind of strange being sucking the life from me.

My lips parted in an attempt to scream but there was no sound. I tried again. Silence. Why can't I hear anything? Can anyone hear me? Why am I here?

My eyes were fading black. No! I have to stay awake, why is this happening? I have to find out. Why is there a black figure in the corner, watching me? Why won't he help me?

My inaudible screams didn't phase the stranger as his figure slowly walked towards me. By now, my whole body was trembling and the damp sheets stuck to my every limb

Help me. Help me. Help me.

******

There was a loud scream as my body shot up, my hair sticking to my face and my chest heaving. My eyes searched the empty room frantically, trying to make sense of it all. Tears were swelling in my bloodshot eyes as I screamed for someone, anyone.

Matt hazily stumbled into my room, rubbing his eyes and groaning yet again. "What's up with all the screaming dude?" He mumbled, stumbling slightly when his foot got caught in my shirt that I threw across the room last night.

Wait, what is that? My eyes squinted in the lack of light, there was some sort of figure in the window. My eyes widened and I screamed louder, hysteria kicking in as my only thought was get away. I tried to run, but something was stopping me. The sheets had a hold of my legs, tangling themselves around tighter the more I attempted to scramble out of the bed.

A thud and I was on the floor, a sweaty, panic stricken mess. Matt's eyes immediately widened and he ran to me, trying to calm me down.

"Harry, Harry! Listen to me, calm down man you're waking up the whole city! Chill."

I took a deep breath in and cursed at myself for looking like a total maniac in front of Matt.

"Sorry Matt, I haven't had a nightmare like that for years...That one was weird." He let out a long sigh and helped me up off the floor. He probably wanted to kill me for waking him up and unleashing his hangover but he's been my best friend since the start of Uni. I told him not long after meeting him about these nightmares and how they started when I was about 8 years old.

They didn't stick to any particular event, they just seemed to all hold the theme that I was trapped and someone was watching me. He understood me, he listened to me and was just a great friend whenever I needed him. They stopped when I was around 15 years old. It was strange, they just seemed to abruptly stop for no apparent reason but I wasn't complaining.

"It's probably just a fluke Harry." He whispered, probably because his head was like a drum right now. He glanced over to the clock on my bedside cabinet, raising his eyebrows and gesturing towards without another world. I twisted my head and instantly jumped up.

"FUCK! I'm late for class." I ran about my room, throwing on the first t-shirt I saw and tugging on a new pair of jeans as Matt walked out, presumably back to bed. I grabbed my black rucksack, shoving in my laptop and my Psychology text book before running out of the dorm, leaving the hungover bodies slumped over their beds to drown in their own miseries as they all had no classes today.

I swung the door open and hurried to my seat, hoping the professor was in a good mood whilst unpacking my bag, taking my laptop out and placing it gently onto the desk.

"Mr. Styles." My stomach dropped. "You're late." The professor spoke sternly and I thought I was in for it. I opened my mouth to speak but was interrupted before I could argue my case.

"Just sit down, consider this a warning." He spun on his heel and continued his lecture as I blew out a breath of relief and put my textbook next to my laptop on the desk.

This lecture was only meant to be an hour long yet it was over-running by twenty minutes now. I huffed quietly to myself as I continued to type notes into my laptop, tapping my foot gently as my fingers glided along the keyboard. There was a cough from across the room and I looked up momentarily at the source. There was that girl. Shit, what was her name?

Sofia!!! That was it. She smirked at me and I realized that this must have been where I recognized her from. My cheeks found themselves pulling my lips into a grin in reply before looking back down at my keyboard again to continue my work. I'd love to smile and grin at this beautiful girl all day but I had to do work and the professor was still giving me filthy looks for being late. Oh come on, people come rolling into class way later than twenty minutes and looking a much worse state than I currently do. I even managed to brush my hair whilst running here.

The professor FINALLY wrapped up the lesson and I couldn't wait to get out of there.Just as I was about to dart off down the corridor back to my dorm, a hand landed on my shoulder and I huffed angrily, tired, cranky and just wanting to go back to bed. Spinning around, I was greeted with Sofia's smile again.

"Sorry to disturb your hasty escape back to bed but I just wanted to ask you a question." She beamed at me, giving me that award-winning smile. "Who was that boy you picked up at the party last night? I was going to help him off the floor but you beat me to it. I wanted to go save the handsome devil!" She laughed heartily whilst my heart sunk to the bottom of my stomach. There goes my crush as fast as it came around. She liked Matt.

"Oh, that was my mate Matt. He's a douche but he's my best friend." She simply made a "o" shape with her mouth and nodded in understanding. Everything she does is so simple yet intriguing simultaneously. I nodded awkwardly, unsure what else to say and stared at her blankly.

"Well, okay. Bye Harry. I'll see you in our next psychology class if you're not late for that one too and get kicked off the course." She winked and walked past me, brushing my arm gently with her shoulder and setting off down the corridor. I gave a small smile to myself before remembering she didn't like me, I sighed again and moped back to my dorm, getting back into bed and ignoring Matt's questioning looks.
