I was sitting in one of the classrooms, in the farest corner from that guy who just murdered Greg a few minutes ago. He looked annoyed, like someone who left the electricity on while going on a month long vacation.I... I had no idea what to think. I was sitting in a room with a murderer, and some kind of invisible chain kept us together if one of us tried to leave. Just... What is going on? In my understanding, there's no way that such a chain would even exist! It's not even there! When I tried to grab it with my other hand, it either disappeared or my hand went right through it!
There's no way this could be real. It has to be a dream. There's just no other explanation.
"Hey" I heard the guy call out for me. I whinced, and looked at him, but as I've learned during the past years, my body way ready to jump if needed.
"Hm?" I tried to be casual about this. Calm. No need to upset him further.
"I think I owe you some explanation" he sighed, and took a step closer. But when he saw that I was unwillingly moving backwards in my seat, he stopped. "Listen, I'm not gonna hurt you. In fact, that's forbidden for me, even if I wanted to. But I don't. Okay?"
I nodded. He seemed relieved by the fact that I understood at least this.
"Okay. So. My name is Ruben" he offered his hand.
I looked at him more closely before. Everything about him was so bright. White clothes, pale skin, almost white, blonde hair that was a bit curly at the end, and also, his eyes. Those deep black eyes, which I first didn't even notice. But now that I was looking into them, I saw how unique they were. Little white dots, like stars were spread across the black circles. Somehow, his eyes made him look less scary, but more mysterious.
I did not take his hand.
He lowered his arm awkwardly, and scratched it with the other.
"I know this was a bad start, but believe me, I usually don't murder people"
"Oh well that's reassuring!" I groaned sarcastically. "Why the hell did you kill him in the first place?"
"I told you. Because you wished for it!"
"Great" I nodded incredously. "So you are a lunatic..."
"No, let me explain!" He took a deep breath, and sat down to the table I was sitting at, to get his eyes on the same level as mine. "You'll still think I'm a lunatic, but at least, hear me out"
I didn't answer, but I was pretty sure that a huge, sceptical "GO ON I'M LISTENING" was written all over my face.
"So. I'm... A Wish Agent. I... Make wishes come true. That's, well, that's my job" he managed to say.
I raised an eyebrow. Yeah, I not only I think he's a lunatic, but he just confirmed it.
"You see, it's hard to explain it exactly the way it is, but imagine a satellite inside every space rock. A small device, that works... Well, let's not get into that. But. When a meteor enters the atmosphere, it becomes a shooting star, and people make wishes! Like, let me win the lottery, or, I don't know, help me pass my exam! And it goes through a sorting system, and somebody's wish comes out at the end. The device saves it, and we, Wish Agents are assigned to do it. That's why I had to kill your mom and that dude. You asked for it"
Mom. He killed mom. He was... He killed her...
"You're crazy..." I muttered. I jumped up, and started to back away. This can't be happening. Why is this happening to me...
"I told you it's unbelievavle, but how else do you explain this?" He lifted his right arm, and the silver chain was visible again for a brief second.
