"So were not gonna celebrate my birthday?" after arguing with my sister about what our dad Actually said and didn't say my dad came home. Me assuming that he would correct this little misunderstanding. Instead im being told we dont have time for my birthday apparently.
"Im sorry son. I dont have enough time with work, and you know your sister cant be trusted with my card. I promise I'll make it up to you. I hope you understand and don't hold it against me".
I stared back. "No no I get it cool, we'll do it another day so its not a big deal. I get it." Of course I was acting, obviously they had to be planning a big party. What baffled me was how sincerely sorry he looked. He almost had me going there, Almost.
My dad looked confused, assuming I'd have put up more of a argument. This being very unlike me. I worried if he suspected that I had already figured everything out. Haha nice try guys but I know for a fact that no one can out due me in raw acting talent.I was even a back up tree in drama class! I mean I didn't get to perform but not all actors started with billboard Grammys aye.
The door suddenly opened. All we saw was a blur. We both got swept away with what was-is a whirlwind. Pecking kisses, giving none to gentlehugs. It just so happened that my sis was no where to be seen. Seems she saw thiscoming miles ahead. She gave me a smile full of wrinkles. the similarities she had to mom ended there as my mom was tall and quite.
"May I know this is early but I brought you this family jewel. It was your mothers, I know how much you looked up to her." grabbing my hand she dropped something into it. "...moms necklace....gee thanks. Did you know mom has acollection of these upstairs right".
"May! Watch your tone, the least you can say is thank you". Grabbing he's keys off the table heplaced his card in aunt Eves hand and waved goodbye. "Dont push her to hard, she's old". Auntysmiled back unfazed "Did you forget to take your meds this morning, you know how you get duringthe evening."
I watched him leave, it was always nice to see him so cheerful...considering he hasn't bought me my gift yet!!. Huuuuf breath May breath, calm thoughts caaalm thoughts. I turned away from the door looking back at my Aunt. "So why did you buy me a necklace? Did you think it go great with the skirt? Thinking maybe I need to expand my female clothes or something?
""Oh I wouldn't say that, but last i remembered wasn'ta necklace both a male and female accessory? By golly what are those schools teaching you kids."I took a moment to absorb the fact that there's still someone alive who uses the word....golly, yes. Herwords not mine.
"Your assuming I go to school, its been." I ticked off the years. "17 years since I pretended to attendclasses. You know all those trophies are bought at IKEA right." She covered her mouth in mock horror. "No! Surely not.....wait....even your award for playing the back up tree?"
I crossed my arms together inspecting the back of my nails for signs of dirt. "That one especially was hard work. I had to mug a granny for her bag, she just so happen to have a bunch of certificates of her grandchildrens awards. A bit of editing here 2 dollars worth of printing there and boom. You got yourself abunch of suckers and no ones the wiser."
Her crystal laugh almost made me lose character, almost. "Come here you". She pulled me into a hug squeezing me a little to hard. Yup if you've guessed it by now her power is super strength. "Oh how I've missed your amazing personality. Lets go to your sister and plan your birthday party.
