Chapter 3 - Just Breathe

The next morning Becky woke up a little confused as to where she was. She turned her head to the window seeing the New York skyline as the sun began to rise. "Wow the sunrise is beautiful here." She said to no one in particular.

"Yeah it is, good morning Becky."

"Morning Hannah, how are you?"

"I'm excited, I can't to see what today brings. Especially tonight's thing, I can't wait to see what it is. It's clearly something super amazing if Mandy still hasn't told you."

Becky climbed out the bed and took a picture of the sunrise. As she took the picture she realised it was only 7:30, she still had over 2 hours before she had to go to Mandy's. She walked over to Hannah who was sat at the desk. "How long have you been up?"

"Oh only 20 minutes. But I figured I may as well get my school work done during these morning moments where we are waking up really early naturally due to the time differences. So, I'm doing our Physics we were set."

Becky walked over to her suitcase calling "Good shout. I'll join you. We're not getting it done at any other time." She picked up her physics folder, textbook and pencil case and sat down in the other seat next to Hannah. They worked on their homework for an hour and a half and then started getting ready.

Becky wore her GWB, in the heights top along with a thing black long-sleeved top under to keep warm. She had a pair of black jeans, a marron jumper and her black converse. Hannah wore a Hamilton top, with black jeans and converse along with a pale blue sweatshirt.

They ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant then headed to Mandy's at 9:45. Becky made sure she had all her sheet music ready and all her notes from previous lessons. It only took them 5 minutes to walk as it was just down the road. Becky knocked on the door and stood back waiting for Mandy.

"Oh My God Becky, I over slept, I'm so sorry!" Mandy said as she opened the door in a dressing gown, while trying to brush her teeth.

"Mandy, respira. It's fine. I know what it's like to miss an alarm. That's happened one too many times on a school day. You don't have anywhere you have to physically be. We could head back to the hotel and return in an hour or so, so you can finish getting ready."

"No, no stay, I won't be long. I just need to get dressed, I just spent too long with the monkey helping her pick a suitable outfit. The other two are in the kitchen eating breakfast. Come in."

Becky, her mum and Hannah walked through into the kitchen. Douglas was facing the back wall and Maribelle opposite facing the door.

"Becky!" she called jumping out of her seat running towards her.

"Someone's excited, you really are a monkey." Becky said as Maribelle jumped into her arms giving her a hug. Becky lifted her up onto her hip, as Maribelle wrapped her arms around her shoulders.

Mandy poked her head round the door. "Oh yeah, she was really excited to see you again, she was upset that she didn't get to say goodbye last night, when she woke up as we took her to bed."

"I can tell." Becky said turning to Mandy, then looking at Maribelle. "And I'm sorry we had to leave before you woke up from your sleep. Wait, Mandy, are you okay with me holding Maribelle like this? I know some people don't like it when others, especially those who they don't really know, hug and hold their kids like this."

"Oh no, it's completely fine. She spent ages talking about you yesterday after you left. She really looks up to you, Becky. It's nice for her to have someone who isn't one of us, for her to admire."

"Wow. I didn't realise I could have that much of an impact on someone after one day. And especially not your daughter. I'm shocked."

"I'm proud she looks up to you, I think you are a great role model for kids who don't really know what they want to do with their lives."
