Jade pulled up to the theater and ran inside. Before she even flung the door open she could hear fighting from inside. To be more exact, her mother, Lily, and her mother's boyfriend Jason, fighting. She walked up to Asher and Alice, who both had their phones out ready to call the police if anything got out of hand.
"Hey," Jade said, "ya know what they're fighting about?"
"I believe that Jason," Asher said, "is upset because your mom said that she wanted to spend your birthday with you."
"Yeah that sounds about right." Jade said, "Cause everyone knows Jason is the center of the universe and we should all worship the ground he walks upon."
Suddenly the trio heard a scream, a female scream. Jade whipped her head around to see Jason beating her mother while she was laying limp on the ground.
Jade rushed over and grabbed Jason's right arm, "Get off of my mom!" She then saw a elderly man staring next to her.
"Knee him in the face!" He said loudly, though no one else seems to see him. Jade nodded and drove her jean covered knee into his face.
She looked over at the man again. He yelled out instructions again, "Punch him in the stomach until he collapses. Don't worry about the cops arresting you, Alice taped the whole thing, you won't get into any trouble."
Jade proceeded to punch him in the gut several times. After he fell to the ground she looked up, only to see that the man was gone.
She walked over to her friends, practically unscathed, hearing sirens in the distance. She rubbed her knuckles, "Dang his stomach is some how all muscle. It was like punching a brick wall."
Asher spoke up, "How'd you learn how to fight like that?"
Jade opened her mouth but then closed it after she realized what happened, she has had another omen. Jade gulped, "Oh uh I've been taking karate classes for a few months. Since that day when I got mugged I decided to start learning to defend myself. Considering we can't have guns in this state, hand to hand seemed like a better option."
Asher nodded as the cops walked in, "You should talks to the cops. Tell them what happened."
Jade walked over, "Uh hi. My names Jade Wilson and my mom was the victim."
The cops nodded, "Can you tell us what you saw?"
"I got here last, my friend Asher called me that my mom and her boyfriend, the attacker, were here. They were fighting and when I got here they started hitting each other. Soon enough he got my mother on the ground. I ran over and began to fight him until he became unconscious." Jade said, "Anything else?"
"Has he done this before?" One of the cops asked.
"Uh..." Jade said, "He gets extremely mad when he's drunk. And he's threatened my mom and myself but this is this first time he's done something like this." She finished.
"Thank you Miss. Because you stepped in we believe your mother will only leave this incident with a few bruises. Also if she tries to date him again, stop her. He isn't a good man." The taller cop said, "You may go and see your movie now."
She walked back to her friends and they bought their snacks and drinks. As they reached the theater room Alice stopped Jade, "Jade you think she'll be ok?"
Jade nodded, "Like he said, bruises. She's survived a broken back. She'll be fine."
They walked in and sat down near the back of the theater. In front of them sat four teenage boys that were talking fairly loudly. The trio of girls ignored them and began to watch the previews.
The movie was going to started in five minutes and the four boys still hadn't shut up. Jade tapped the one in front of her on the shoulder, "Hey. Shut it."
"Ok Cupcake." The boy said, "I'll shut it if you can give me your number."
"Ok Stupid how about we have a little talk outside." Jade said dragging him out of his seat.
Once outside she began to speak, "Ok look kid. The movie is about to start so I will be brief. I'm like three years older then you. I'm in a great relationship so the best you can do is shut you little mouth." Leaving him outside she marched back in and sat down just as the movie started. Only to see someone in her seat.
