Painful Memories

My nerves kick in as soon as I step through the crowded school gates. I start to feel nauseous as the stares of students, my new fellow peers, increase and the whispering continues. I should have known they would probably recognise me.

I look around and my gaze settled on the school sign that read, 'Crescent moon academy ' I have to admit that the name weirds me out a little but I know I will enjoy it here. A small smile crept it's way onto my face as I thought about it.

This is it. I am finally going to get the high school experience I want after being homeschooled for so long with no friends and being shut off from the world.

The school bell wrung and I start to make my way to the front office to retrieve my schedule, the only problem was that I didn't know where it was.
Looking around I realize that the school is already deserted, not a single soul around. I groaned but kept walking ahead. I will find it....eventually.

I kept my head up as I walked, a thing I learnt from my overly strict mother. She always wanted the best for me but I guess she didn't know what it was since i always got sick of whatever it was. Homeschooling me, for example.
I had to do a lot of begging and being a nice, quiet, sensible child to be here so that was another reason I wanted to make the most of it.

It had been around five minutes of me cluelessly wondering when I finally found a sign that read 'office'. I pushed the door open and as my feet landed on the soft carpet, cool air immediately surrounded me, which was great because I was sweating a lot in that heat.

I made my way up to one of the nicer looking women, the rest having scowls on their faces as they worked. She had fiery red hair that was put up into a casual pony tail and chocolate brown eyes that looked surprisingly similar to mine and looked no older than 25.

"Excuse me" I said shyly, but I know she heard me because her eyebrows shot up, not looking away from her paper work, gesturing for me to continue.
"I am new here and I came to collect my schedule"

"Name" she said blankly

"Um Elena Lockwood" at this, her eyes shot up and to say she looked shocked was an understatement but she quickly covered her expression with a soft smile.

"Is something wrong miss?" I ask, my face holding a worried expression, at how she reacted to my name.

"N-no no it's nothing I just...I thought you were someone else" she said with a hesitant laugh, seeming uncertain. I could easily tell that she was lying but she handed me my schedule and told me to get to class.

I stole one last glance at her as I stumbled through the door and found her staring at me and whispering harshly to one of the older looking ladies who had the same ginger hair as her.

Wierd.

The day seemed to pass quickly. I made some friends, accidentally met some of the mean girls and had gotten homework already.

I stumbled into my spacious room with baby blue walls and collapsed onto my bed. High school is hard.

My iPhone suddenly buzzed startling me. Who could be texting me? I looked at the screen and saw it said 'Jordan'. A smile etched it's way onto my face as I remember the goofy boy who stuck up for me when a sour girl with brunette hair called me a loser for tripping over her own foot.
