The first week of their summer holiday and the six of them were at the quarry, just chilling and hanging out. They were having fun. As Ritchie went to jump into the water he grabbed Eddie's wrist and held onto it tight.
"Cmon Eddie spaghetti!" He jumped, but before Eddie could say anything he was already falling. The only thing he could let out was a weak scream. As the two of them hit the water it made a huge splash. A few seconds later their heads bobbed up to the surface of the cold water.
"What the fuck did you do that for?!?!" Eddie wheezed as he found it hard to breath as he had just been dragged off a cliff. Ritchie, however could not contain his laughter!!
"I'm sorry Ed's." He said still laughing. "Thought it'd be funny, ya know how it is."
"No, no Ritchie I don't know how it is!" Ritchie could see that Eddie was hurt and suddenly felt bad for him. He loved Eddie, as a friend obviously, but he was confused. As Ritchie felt bad he leaned in and gave Eddie a little peck on the cheek. Eddie couldn't help but blush. They both looked up at the same time and the others started to jump down too. After about three hours of swimming and chilling in the sun, on the rocks listening to music on a boom box that Ritchie bought with him. Suddenly Ben stood up.
"Guys, I think there is something wrong with this town." Everyone looked up at him, wondering what made him say that.
"Yeah we know, proper shithole! Have you met Henry Bowers?!?!" Ritchie said loudly. The losers huffed but before they could say anything else they saw someone fall off the quarry. Maybe pushed. They heard a low pitched scream.
"O my god someone just got pushed off!" Shouted Ben as they rushed into the water to go and get him. As they struggled to drag the body out of the water they heard a distinctive laugh that could only belong to one person. Henry Bowers!!
"Woah!! What the fuck happened to you?" Ritchie exclaimed. The kid was alright but he was a bit bashed up and bruised. He had a big cut across his eyebrow, probably Henry Bowers.
"Yeah I'm fine thanks for saving me, I'm not a very strong swimmer!" They looked at him surprised.
"Lucky we were here then! Say what's your name?" Stanley said with a welcoming smile. He looked at the others making them smile too.
"Mike. Mike Hanlon." He said as he smiled and sat up.
"N-nice to meet you m-mike! I'm B-Bill this is R-Ritchie, Stan, Beverly, E-Eddie and Ben."
"We're the losers club!" Ritchie interrupted promptly. That's what people called them, the losers club. They didn't mind, they thought it was cool. After chatting quite a bit with Mike and getting to know him, what Henry was doing to him and how he was homeschooled they noticed the time and it was getting quite late. 5:57 the clock on Eddie's wrist showed. Curfew was 1 hour and 3 minuets away. Parents were probably getting worried so they started to go home. They said goodbye to each other and said they'd see each other soon. When Bill got home his father had been waiting for him with folded arms a frown on his face.
"Where the hell have you been young man?" He shouted at him. "Your mother and I have been worried sick"
"I'm s-so sorry I-I was just hanging with m-my friends. S-someone got p-pushed off the quarry." Bill pleaded his dad not to be angry at him but it didn't work. Not since George "disappeared". Bill's Mum heated up his food, she was mostly worried than angry as she wouldn't know what she'd do if Bill went "missing" too. After he ate Bill went upstairs and sat on his bed. He got into his pjs and started to wonder what Ben was about to say before Mike got pushed off the quarry. Something about this town being weird? It sure was. He had to find out what he meant. The next couple of days the losers met up, with Mike as well, and did stuff like go to the arcade or to the quarry hoping no one would get pushed off again. Not once did Ben even mention the town being weird again. Eventually Bill stopped wondering about it forgot. The first week was great, there was no trouble, they didn't bump into Henry Bowers and they even made a new friend. They hoped then next few weeks would stay that way. But of course they didn't.
One sunny afternoon down in Bill's back garden, he had just got a new croquet set, the losers heard noises. It sounded like it was coming from the bushes. They started to stumble backwards. The noise started to growl, like a dog, but it didn't seem like a dog. It seemed far worse.
"What the fuck is that?!?!" Ritchie shouted. Bill's mum stuck her head out the window and frowned at him. He gave her an apologetic look and she left. No one could hear the growling noise anymore. It had gone.
"M-maybe it was j-just a d-dog or s-something." Bill spat out nervously he didn't think it was a dog, he knew it was something far worse. After being creeped out by the strange noises they decided to go inside and get something to eat. Bill's mum had made them jam sandwiches. The best!!!Most of the losers then slept round that night but being a girl and knowing her father would be absolutely fuming, Beverly went home on her bike and went to her room before her dad could see. As she was walking to her room she peered into the living to see her fast fast asleep on the armchair. She went into her bedroom and sat on her bed. She did this for a while before she went to sleep and woke up the next morning.
