Noah's having second thoughts again. He told Mac that Jenna doesn't know, which is almost entirely true, considering the fact that Jenna doesn't know that he could read Mac's mind. But, if Mac were to know that him and Jenna have been telepathic since the first grade, then she might freak out. Mac sits down in the bench beside him.

"What? What is it?" Mac furrows her eyebrows. What if he decides that her thoughts are too much for him?

"No Mac, I would never think your thoughts are too much for me — oh, sorry! I forgot to turn it off," Noah laughs nervously. Although he is trying to be calm, he can't help the look of worry that is on his face right now. What is he going to tell her? Should he tell her the truth? That Noah and Jenna have a secret connection?

"U-um, w-well," Noah has a hard time starting the conversation, and his stalling is starting to bother Mac. Small beads of sweat are forming on his hairline, and he rubs it away. "Okay, I'm just gonna go out and say it. Ask me any questions you want, but you must promise me one thing. Never tell anyone."

"Of course," Mac is a little frightened. She's never seen Noah get so uptight about anything. Oh god, Mac thought, he's not gonna tell me he loves her, is he? Ugh, I was afraid this would happen. She shakes the thought away and focuses on Noah.

Noah, having just read Mac's mind again, quickly started telling the story from as early as he could remember. "It was.. a Wednesday? Oh whatever, I don't actually know what day it was. Anyway, I'm in 1st grade when I first heard someone talking in my head. Of course, I was only 6 years old, so I didn't think much of it, until I noticed it was a girl's voice. I recognized her voice as she was in my class. I kept quiet because I was scared. I never was the type of kid to just yell, 'Ahh, there's a girl in my head!' I just kept quiet." Mac is nodding her head, and her attentive, curiosity-stricken eyes are focused on Noah as he speaks. She considers interrupting him and telling him to get to the point of the story, but she felt that anything he had to say was important, so she let him speak.

"The next day comes rolling around, and this girl—the one from my class and my head— just comes up to me and says, 'Why were you saying such mean things about your brother yesterday?' Of course being the little kid that I was, the first thing I asked was 'How did you know?' and yep you guessed it. She said 'I heard you. In my head.'" Noah exhales in relief. He didn't realize until now he hadn't been fully breathing. He was a little nervous to see Mac's reaction.

"Wait, so I'm assuming this girl is her?" A flash of disgust comes across her face, but only for a second before the barrier of curiosity and confusion comes back up.

"If by her, you mean Jenna, then yes. I'm sorry I never told you. People don't exactly welcome open arms to someone that claims they're telepathic. That sounds a little crazy, you know?" Noah, now calm, runs a finger through Mac's hair in attempt to calm her down too. "I can teach you how to keep your thoughts private, without me having to block them myself. Also, I meant what I said when I told you that Jenna doesn't know yet."

A wave of paranoia crashed through Mac. Is she ready to have such intimacy with Noah? Yes, he was her boyfriend, and he saw a side of her that no one else did, but to show her thoughts to him? The only things that were hers, and only hers? She just wasn't ready. "No!" she snapped. "Please don't ever read my mind again. I-I just need time to th-think." Mac grabbed Noah's hand from her hair as the bell rang for the next class. She tumbled out of his grasp, and walked quickly to the girls bathroom. She didn't understand this. Why her? Why him and Jenna? Everything had to be shared with her. Oh, how she hated that girl.

Noah was so confused. Why had she just ran off like that? He can't imagine what it would be like to just randomly find out you're telepathic. After all, he was in 1st grade when he found out, and he embraced it. While going through all this craziness, he had accidentally skipped a class, and was already late to chemistry class. The halls were empty, so he ran to class with the hopes of not getting another detention for being late.

Dude! Why are you so late? Miss Thang over there kept you busy? I told you! She's a bad influence! Jenna practically rolled her eyes at the comment. She knew how much Mac hated her, and the feeling was mutual. Noah actually rolled his eyes, in which the teacher mistook it for him, and gave him detention anyway. Thanks, Jenna. He thought to himself.

Jenna was focusing on her work, when she heard faint mumbling in the back of her mind. Noah? No, it couldn't be. He knew how to block out his thoughts. Wait, this can't be possible. There was another mind reader in her school? Jenna gasps a little too loudly and gets the attention of a lot of people in her class. She uses that moment to look around the room and see who the voice could possibly be.It was becoming a little louder as she examined the room. She is in the middle of watching the quiet girl in the corner of the class when Mackenzie bursts in the room.

"Mr. Lee! I'm so sorry to barge in like this, but I desperately need Noah at the moment. Is there any way that you could let me borrow him for just a couple minutes?"She batted her eyelashes at the teacher. Oh, how easy it was to manipulate these poor old teachers. Sometimes, she een felt bad.

She decided that she would talk this through with Noah and tell him what she wanted at the moment. To learn how to block her thoughts until she was ready to show that part of her to him. She hoped he would understand.

Mr. Lee decides whether he should let this slide while chewing on the end of his reading glasses. "Okay Hun, but make sure he's back soon. He needs to make up a test for last class." Mr. Lee shoots him a look showing him that he's just bluffing and to have fun with his girl. With that, Noah slides out of his desk and walks out the class with Mac.

Jenna would have been busy criticizing Mac in her head, and rolling her eyes at the fact that she gets everything, but she was too busy noticing that the voice in her head was Mac! No way. Oh my god, does Noah know? This is crazy. Jenna tried to see if she could reach out to Noah despite their distance apart. Yes! She easily sent him a mental message.

Come to my house later. I need to tell you something insane. It involves Mac, and it can not wait. See you tonight! And with that note, the bell rings signaling the end of the day. Noah tries not to squirm when he gets the message from Jenna, assuming that she knows about Mac's telepathy. How, though? She wouldn't have told her. Is it possible that Jenna heard her too? Everyone is rushing out of their classes, while Noah and Mac are having an important conversation.

".. I just don't know if I'm ready yet. So with that said, please just teach me how to block my thoughts, and pretend this never happened—" She noticed that Noah seemed a little dozed off. "Earth to Noah! Yeah, hello, I'm right here, and I have been trying to talk to you for the past 15 minutes! What's up with you?"

Noah jolts back to life. "Yes! I'm sorry, Mac, I got distracted. Jenna just told me that she knows something about you. I think she heard your mind when you walked in the class." Noah slowly loses focus again into his own train of thought. Thinking out loud he says "I just wonder what made your abilities show up now, of all times?" Annoyed, Mac snaps her hands in Noah's face.

"Get a grip! You need to go home and talk to Jenna and figure out what she knows. I don't care if you have to make up some random shit, I don't want her knowing about this. Okay?"  Noah flinched at her sudden rise in tone. She was loud and demanding, and she only got that way with people she didn't respect. She didn't mean to get that way with Noah, but this was a very serious matter to her. No one could see her vulnerability. Especially Jenna.

Noah could tell how scared Mac was getting. No matter how many walls she put up, Noah knew how to take them down in one second. Noah kissed Mac, and she melted into it, immediately calming down. "I'm sorry," she breathed. "This kinda scares me,"

"I know, baby, I know" Noah softly kisses her temple, and they stay there for a couple of minutes in the silence of the empty hall.

They were the last ones left in the school, and they soon parted their ways. Mac going back home, and Noah going to Jenna's house to see what he could do to make Jenna believe that she was just going crazy today.
