Kalvin Wiltshire's P.O.V

I found myself always staring at the back of the head of a girl with the shiniest silver locks during class. It was hard not to, the color was so different, so unique. Plus she made herself noticeable by always answering the teacher.

"So, today we are going to start our final project for this semester. For this you will be in pairs of two, that I choose." Mr. Jameson states loudly, followed by many groans from the rest of the class. "Group one will be Finn and Dax and your project will have find a way to connect with theater, group two will be Lyric and Kalvin, you will have to connect with music." Once I hear my name, I begin to tune out his words, only to be taken out of the daze by a person tapping my shoulder.

"You're Kalvin correct?" The voice asks, causing me to look up to see the girl with silver hair.

"Um, yeah. That must make you Lyric?" I retort in a soft tone, someone nervous about talking to her.

"Yes sir, that is me." She lets out a small giggle as she sits next to me. "So, what should we do for this project, it has to involve music somehow." Lyric mutters, more to herself than to me, her nose scrunching up in the cutest way as she thinks and I can't help but stare.

"Maybe, we write a song?" I ask, shrugging. "Or write some music piece that relates to the story we read."

"That's actually a good idea, maybe we write a piece about Percy and Annabeth's relationship?" Before either of us speak again the phone rings, distracting us from the project for a moment watching as Mr. Jameson answers the phone, for some reason Lyric's face seems paler than normal.

"Mr. Jameson speaking," He pauses, nodding. "Okay, I'll tell them. All three of them correct?" He nods again. "Okay, thank you." He hangs up and clears his throat, pulling out the pad for passes and writes something on one. "Hey Dax, can you Finn and Lyric come here please? I just got a call from the office for you three. It's something about your Mother?" His words come out more like a question, the three get up silently, Lyric looking worse off then when the phone call came in and Dax holding onto her to steady her as they walk.

"Thank you Mr. Jameson.." Finn is the first to speak, seeming to be the most calm out of the three.

The class goes by slowly the rest of the day, my mind focusing on how terrified Lyric looked when they left. I'm brought out of my thoughts by the sound of the door opening and the three walking into the room.

"Why are you three back?" Mr. Jameson questions, obviously knowing what happened.

"It's better for us, mostly Dax and Lyric here to be in public surrounded by distractions from what happened." Finn answers, in a soft tone but not soft enough for me to hear from my seat.

"Alright, if you need anything, tell me." He nods, Finn leads Lyric back to her seat, where she sits, looking as if she was barely about to keep her composer.

"Hey." I whisper to her, hoping for an answer, but getting none. Finn taps my shoulder and simply shakes his head mouthing Give it a while to me before sitting down himself next to Dax.

What the hell happened in the twenty minutes they were gone that fucked her up so much?
