Afra's POV:
His cologne hits my nostrils as he walks closer relaxing my once tensed muscles.
It was then I registered that we were in a garden, the stream that ran across it was brilliantly bright due to the reflection of the sun. The sweet smell of grass and wetted earth fills the atmosphere, while dew droplets on leaves shine from the reflection of sun. Maybe we're in heaven, I mentally thought. His soft touch across my cheek brought me back to reality, as distance between us gradually disappeared. My lips were an inch away from his when I heard.....
Buzzzzz...buzzzzz...buzzzz
As I open my eyes Sluggishly, the adhzan(calling of prayer) was coming to an end and then I knew it was already Fajir. The alarm came on again infuriating me with every buzz it made which I angrily tapped it to stop.
It was all a dream....a very sweet one tbh. I smiled my way to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and carried out ablution. After prayers,I called out my morning supplications and prayed for the dream I had to come true. I climbed back to my bed and let it's warmth engulf me gradually slipping away.
A loud knock followed by my mom barging into my room woke me up. (#sigh...lately, I'm getting used to that).
"Morning maaaa" I faintly greeted.
"Is the school meeting you up here or you finally agreed to be going with your siblings?" She asked not minding my greetings. Urghhhhh.... this woman and her masifa (trouble), I mentally rolled my eyes. I slowly pulled my phone from beneath the pillow and saw the time was already 6:14am. She went on and started fixing some other stuff which she usually does while I left the room for the bathroom to take my bath. I finished my business and strolled out and was welcomed by the cool breeze from the widely opened window,
"Now is this woman okay?" I thought, or maybe she did it on purpose. Sighing, I paced my way over to the window and closed it immediately shivering from the cold.
Oiling my body with my sweet scenting cream, I applied slight makeup and wore my uniform. Grabbing my school bag and phone, I matched down stairs. I didn't bother to eat anything as I waved goodbye to mom and trekked my way to school.
My home was a five minutes walk to school and I love long walks plus I want to stay fit, so I usually trek to school. I emerged into the school gate at exactly 7:05. Silently walking my way to class while replying some messages over twitter I bumped into a very hard chest and my phone slipped out of my hand landing of the sandy ground. I quickly raised my head to meet his dazed gaze. His eyes were mesmerizing, and for a while none of us uttered a word.....just then I remembered my phone and so I dragged out of my trance.
"Oh, I'm so sorry" I apologized in a baby tune flashing my puppy eye.
"Never mind, just pay attention next time while walking." He chuckled, with that he bent a little picking up my phone and handing it over to me. I thanked him and we both parted ways. I reached the class and still can't help the goofy smile that keeps finding its way to my lips. He looked cute in natives tbh. It felt magical or maybe, God had answered my prayers real fast.•••••••
It was break time. Botul and I walked our way chatting in low tune to the junior classes which was quieter during break time where she and her boyfriend Ahmad who also, is a young teacher were supposed to meet. Though it was punishable for students and teachers to be courting, senior students tend to neglect that.
"My darling angel" Ahmad teasingly called out to me in the hope that he riled up his over possessive girlfriend.
Instead, she ignored and sat beside him. I laughed at her facade of not disturbed by that and found a spot beside them sitting.
"Jamal...come meet my angel" Ahmad called out smiling to someone behind me. I swiftly turned and it was him again.
"Oh....the girl that bumps into people while walking again." Embarrassed, I smiled greeting him. He answered and I caught Botul's questioning gaze which let me knew I had a lot of explanation to do later.
The love birds chatted adorably leaving me and 'Mr beard' now known as Jamal who scrolls his phone throughout.
"So you live this close to school" he more like stated than questioning still not raising his head.
"Yeahhh...how did you know?" Dazzled, I answered firing him a question too...
"I saw you trekking to school" he muttered half laughing.
I smiled and didn't talk any further.
"Oh so you thought I was stalking you or something?" Now he was fully laughing.
"Nooo...it was just strange how certain you were without waiting for my reply." I answered laughing too.
"Smart girl...well you don't look like someone who treks a long distance plus you arrived to school very early, so do I still need to wait for your reply?"
Oh now I felt stupid. I mentally palmed my face. It was very obvious that I can't trek long distance and can't reach to school that early unless I set off since subhi. The bell ranged and break was over. Botul and I waved goodbye to the duo and set off to class.
It was Chemistry,so the boys went to the lab, leaving the girls behind giving us the space we needed. I detailed what happened earlier that morning to Nusie, Salma and Botul because apparently I can't escape. The rest of the day was uneventful and thus went as a blur.
