An edit of an poem i wrote on August 23, 2016
To the best friend I've ever had:

the sun gleams from her hair,
the dimples in her cheeks
are the divets from which
flowers bloom, bright
and beautiful against
a summer sky, the blue
of her eyes, air warmed
by her laughter.

her smiles are in the sweet
freshness of watermelon slices,
her curls are the delicate wisps
of cotton candy spinning in
dizzying circles until perfect,

she is the orange tongues of fire,
roaring through mountaintops and
destroying all that oppose her
until
she is crackling in the hearth
with a brilliant smile
and smelling
of home.

this is definitely more of a love poem than the original, this assignment was for valentine's day hooray. this one focuses more on the positive and pretty things about tess, whereas the other also relates to the powerful things she does.

love you, tess <3
