(A/N) I hope you guys think this is cute. yep that's it ok bye.

I closed my eyes and leaned back in the uncomfortable chair that I was forced to sit in for hours on end.

"Told you I would let them go," sang the perfect voice of Ed Sheeran through my headphones.

It was my final class of the year. I am in my Junior year as a seventeen year old and I couldn't wait to get out of this hell hole that someone decided to call school.

My parents were always hard on me to get good grades in school. Hard as in anything below an A would result in a grounding.

I suddenly felt something hit my arm and opened my eyes to find Calum Hood staring at me from two desks away.

"Were you sleeping?" he mouthed to me.

I shook my head no and glared at him for throwing what I assumed was a pencil eraser at me.

He laughed and went back to ignoring our teacher.

I heard the shrill bell announcing the end of class and the end of my Junior year.

I couldn't help but be relived as I packed my things and left.

I navigated my way through the hallways that were always full of clusters of people who where either pushing each other around or talking about someone who stood two feet away.

"HOOOPEY!!"

I turned around to find Ashton, dragging an excited looking Anna behind him, pushing their way through the mass of bodies.

"Wanna go get some ice cream?" he asked poking my cheeks. I laughed and pushed his hands away.

"With you too?! Never!" I giggled.

"I'll take that as a yes!" Anna said grabbing my arm as Ashton continued to drag us both outside.

We walked down to the nearest ice cream shop to begin our summer. After two close encounters with some busses and one angry driver we made it to the shop and sat at a table near the front door.

"I got this ladies." Ash said as he stood up and walked to the counter to order for us.

"Hi, we would like one extra huge chocolate sundae with caramel, whipped cream, and sprinkles please." he smiled.

"Oh and also one large Dr. Pepper." he added.

Anna and I laughed while we watched him awkwardly swaying back and forth with his hands in his pockets while waiting for the order.

Once he got it he walked back to the table chatting away about what we were going to do later.

"I think we should go to the fair. It's only like-"

Those were the last words of Ashton Irwin.

I'm just kidding.

He was interrupted though. At that same moment someone opened the door to the shop and Ashton, not seeing the person, ran into the resulting in our beautiful ice cream sundae being splattered all over the persons plain white t-shirt.

"ASHTON" Anna and I yelled.

His face turned a bright shade of red and he began to ramble off an apology that no one could understand. The boy lifted his head up to where Ashton could tell who it was.

And Ashton

started

laughing.

Holy shit I am friends with a complete douche, I thought.

That was when I realized that the poor unfortunate soul with the ruined shirt was the mysterious Luke Hemmings.

Luke and Ashton both bursted into fits of laughter.

When they stopped to catch their breath Luke looked around the cafe to see who had witnessed his little catastrophe.

He laid eyes on me and Anna and suddenly his smile was gone and his face started to turn pink. His eyes moved back and forth between us and the door next to him. Then he threw said door open and ran out into the street and down the block.

What a mood swing.

Ashton, realizing that Luke was gone looked over at Anna who mumbled a quiet "oh no" and ran out the door after him.

"What the hell?" Ashton said walking over to me and taking a seat.

I shrugged. I didn't know what the hell.

"Let's get some more ice cream. I promise I won't spill it this time." Ashton laughed.

-

After we got our ice cream we decided to shoot toppings at each other with spoons when the workers weren't looking.

It didn't take long for us to get caught and told to stop.

Ashton was laughing and I noticed a streak of chocolate on his forehead.

Without thinking I reached up and wiped it off. He tensed when my thumb made contact with his face but relaxed and wiped some whip cream off of my cheek.

"Wanna go to the park?" he said, before the silence became too awkward.

"No I think I'll just go on home."

"LAME. It's not even dark out yet!" he teased me.

"Well I was going to go by Anna's to see if Luke was okay. He seemed kind of freaked."

"I'll come to!" he called, standing up and sticking his hand out for me to grab.

Ash and I had been mistaken for a couple more times than we would care to admit.

We were so close it was almost like we were family, so the idea was really weird to us. We knew everything about one another. I think I'm the only person who knows about his secret fear of bridges.

Of course I love him but just not in that way.

We walked hand and hand out of the shop and down the street of the small town towards Anna and Luke's house.
