Zayn was strangely calm, and that’s what scared me the most. He wasn’t going crazy, and he wasn’t angry either. There was no emotion, at least none of the emotion I had expected.  He was simply waiting for an explanation, and looking at me pointedly. The truth was that I didn’t know what to say. I looked at Louis desperately, and he glanced at the floor, playing with the hem of his shirt.

“This girl wouldn’t leave Liam alone and she didn’t believe him when he said the stuff about him and Danielle wasn’t true so, me being an idiot,” he smiled at me. “I said that Liam was gay, and kissed him.”

Louis shrugged, as if everything was that easy. As if there was no harm done. As if it was all fixed now.

“Oh. So you just said that he was gay and kissed him. Okay. Obviously nothing to worry about.” Zayn said, stepping back to let us inside.

“What were you thinking?” Zayn asked once we were all sat down. He said it so quietly and seriously, like he was so sure of himself that it had so much more impact than my shouted anger ever had.

Louis looked at him worriedly and I could see how that he already knew so painfully that he was an idiot, how it only hurt him more when it was pointed out and shoved in his face.

“Zayn, leave him alone. He already knows that he made a mistake; he was only trying to help me. Don’t make him feel any worse.” I said.

“That’s where you’re wrong, Liam. I feel brilliant!” he smirked, running a hand through his hair quickly.

I laughed, because we both knew he was lying and that was what he wanted – for it to be obvious. I think lying about it just made him feel better.

“You’re welcome.” I whispered. I didn’t care that he’d never actually said thank you, I knew he meant to say it. That was just Louis.

“Sorry, Lou, but you know what’s going to happen when Simon finds out! He’ll go mental.” Zayn insisted.

“I’m sure that happened years ago.” Louis muttered under his breath.

“Where are Harry and Niall?” I asked, changing the subject.

Zayn seemed to think about the question for a while.

“Well ever since Niall found out about what happened he’s been in his room, staring sort of blankly, if you ask me, at the Lilo tag on Tumblr – I did point out that it’s a scary place to be because it’s not just Lilo, it’s Lilo and Stitch and Lindsay Lohan . He didn’t listen to me and he refused to come out, even when I offered him food. I thought it was a bit unusual, but I was kind of preoccupied worrying about you two. Harry, I don’t know where he is. He’s out somewhere. I haven’t seen him. ”

I was about to ask why Zayn even knew so much about the Lilo tag, because why would Zayn have ever looked through it, or had the need to?  Before Zayn showed me all those tweets I had no idea that Lilo even existed. We weren’t exactly a big bromance (maybe the correct word now was romance) but I brushed it off.

I chuckled. “He probably thinks that I’m actually gay and the whole Lilo thing is real. Or Lou planned some kind of elaborate prank that he wasn’t allowed to know about. ”

“Or, you know, maybe checking the internet wasn’t the first thing on his mind when he was having sex with some girl.” Louis said mischievously.

Zayn hit him on the arm playfully. “Louis! I’m scarred for life! I don’t think I’ll ever be the same anymore!”

“Oh, you’ve heard worse things,” he paused. “Hey, Zayn?” Louis said, his eyes gleaming with a plan.

“Yes?” Zayn asked slowly, bracing for some form of attack.
