“Liam, I want to go on the rollercoaster!”
I laughed at Lou’s childishness. He seemed so excited to go on it, it was like I’d just offered to buy Niall all the food in existence.
“Sure, which one though?” I asked gesturing to all of them.
Louis grabbed my hand, and I flinched. I wanted to pull away, but we had to keep up appearances. This was our date after all. He thought about it for a second, spinning in a dizzy circle to look at them all.
“That one,” he said, grinning as he pointed at one that looked like it had a lot of sickening loops. “It’s the biggest, so it’s probably the best.”
“Okay, Lou.” I smiled and started walking in that direction.
Louis let go of my hand and started running.
“I’ll race you there!” he shouted as he craned his neck to look back at me.
He was halfway there already, so it was kind of cheating. Of course it was cheating. Louis wasn’t exactly the type of person to play fair at scrabble or monopoly or anything. He’d insist that fablouis was a perfectly legitimate word and the best word in the dictionary, or not mention anything when he landed on your property so he didn’t have to pay rent, or steal money when you weren’t paying attention.
I sighed and followed after him. I wasn’t about to start running and looking completely stupid, Louis had the strange gift of looking completely normal when he was doing something that would make a normal person look insane. He was already sitting in his seat when I got there, so I sat down next to him.
“I love you, Li.” Louis said.
I froze. All he’d said was that he thought he fancied me, not that he loved me. Oh god this was far worse than I’d thought, Louis was in love with me. I was such a horrible person, really, because I was probably hurting him so much. I stared at him in shock.
Then, a few painful seconds later, it dawned on me. We were on a date. It was supposed to be really public so it would be all over the media. He couldn’t have really meant it.
“I- I love you too.” I said, smiling.
I laid my head on his shoulder and tried my best to remember all the stuff that Harry and Niall had taught us while I waited. It was pointless really, because soon after, the rollercoaster started moving and Louis was screaming very loudly in my ear. I couldn’t help but compare it to a fan’s scream, and I decided that they were very much the same.
When we got off Louis was smiling like an idiot.
“That was amazing!” he exclaimed.
“Louis, you were screaming like a little girl the whole time and I swear I’ll probably have bruises from where you clutched my arm so hard.” I said raising an eyebrow.
“So? Remember, Li, you’ve got to live hardcore to be hardcore!” he smirked.
I laughed and started walking towards a hook a duck stand, with Louis close behind.
“That’s not fair! You can’t use my own words against me!” I said indignantly.
“I can if I want to.” Louis retorted.
“No! Jimmy protested, he says you can’t.” I grinned.
“Fine, fine. Didn’t like saying it anyway. It’s a stupid thing to say, to be honest!” he joked.
I gasped and poked him. “You did not just say that! I’m offended.”
“I’m sorry, forgive me?” Louis asked as he pulled me into a hug. I nodded.
