the two arrived at the grocery in joshua's black audi and were now seated at the front seats of the car in mere silence, the engine humming every now and then as joshua drove around trying to find a parking slot.

every now and then, he would glance at the girl beside him, whom smelled of bath soap and strawberries. taehee was currently gazing out at the window, her mind flying as she fidgeted with the hem of her oversized hoodie, pulling at stray threads. joshua smiled, more than content to have her with him.

"taehee?"

"hm?"

"we're here already and we found a spot."

taehee shifted in her seat and she was unsure whether or not she was anxious or excited about seeing the real world once again.

whilst joshua was picking up some groceries from the shelves, taehee spotted some of her friends laughing and chatting in one aisle. temptation to go to them and ask for help was taking over her, but she made an attempt to hold it back. joshua seemed to have noticed as he made a quick glance at her friends before ushering her to the counter, pulling her close to him, which caused her face to press against his chest.

the cashier lady began tapping their items on the scanner, while joshua kept looking around suspiciously to see if there were any other people from school.

"oomf— josh let go! i can't breathe-"

she pushed herself away from his chest, leading to customers from a few other counters to look at the duo for a moment, and returning back to what they were doing originally. the beeping sound of the scanner stopped, and the cashier lady spoke.

"that would be ₩ 21,341."

joshua paid for the groceries and they left for the car. the entire trip was silent once again, the occasional beeps of cars and the humming of the engines being the only sounds on the road.

"we have some food. happy now?"

"yep, thanks. are you going to cook the chicken tonight?"

"yeah, i'll just search up some recipes  online since i don't know how to cook chicken."

a little while later, the aroma of freshly marinated chicken enveloped the air. taehee, who hadn't eaten since two days ago, was obviously starving and she impatiently stood from the chair in the dining area to check on joshua's cooking.

he stood there in the kitchen, cleaning up the countertops from the small mess he created. joshua seemed to have sensed taehee's presence by the doorway because he wasn't bothered one bit.

"the chicken's on the kitchen island. could you please also prepare the plates and utensils? thanks."

he said, back still facing taehee.
she just complied, taking the platter of chicken from the table in the middle of the kitchen and a couple of plates from the cupboard as well as dining utensils.

the two were now eating in mere silence, only having a few small conversations every now and then.

"thanks josh for the chicken. it's really great."

"really? that was actually the very first chicken i've ever cooked in the entirety of my life."

"well, i'm impressed."

once they had finished eating, joshua took all the used plates and threw all the leftovers in the bin before washing the dishes.

as he was scrubbing the plates, he felt a familiar pair of arms snake around his waist. cliché, i know. taehee pressed her cheek against his back which made joshua's lips tug into a smile. god, was she intoxicating.

"can i sleep with you only for this night?"

"yes, but on one condition."

"which is?"

"that you'll allow me to show you what love is."
