JESSICAS' POV

In a blink of an eye, another sundown turns into a sunrise. Starting another day every morning has always been a struggle for me. I cannot recall the last time I had a decent night sleep. Images from the cases I have taken upon so far in my career have managed to disturb my inner peace. Uhg, the same fucking nightmare stuck on repeat, haunting my nights with just a handful minor details being switched, making this whole supernatural experiense more intese as time goes by.

Dragged my ass out of bed, went to the bathroom and stared at the disgusting reflection projected from  across the room, through the cracked mirror on the wall ,  thinking : "Could you look more awful? Get yourself together! Gosh!" . Hoped into the shower to freshen up for work, viciously scrubbing off the "stains" left behind from last nights' terrors. Today I chose to wear black skinny jeans pairing them with  a white strapless t-shirt, a black jacket and black boots.

On my way to the station, I made sure to make a stop at the coffee shop around the corner,  to get my usual large coffee, much needed to start my day.

At my arrival,  Vincent Scott - my partner, greeted me from a distance...

"Good morning Parker." he said.

I said nothing and got into my office, the place I spent most of my time when not on the hunt.

"Wow, someone is a morning person." Vincent said sarcastically while leaning on my door.

"What do you want Scott?" I asked in irritation as i was not in the mood for a chit chat.

"We have a new lead for the double homicide."

"Show me!" I said and followed him to the techs.

A video started playing, in which we could make out the suspects' clothes in detail, but we still weren't able to identify him by face.

"See, there!" Vincent said as he paused the video. "Do you see his clothes?"

"Get to the point Scott."

"His clothes were never found but we managed to find his shoes."

"Why would he keep his shoes?"

"There has to be a reason."

Both of us had the same confused expression across our faces.

"Gosh! Since last week's arrest people have gone crazy."

"Yeah, that robbery was a real pain in the ass."

"Tell me about it!"

"At the end of the day it was a success all because of you."

"Thanks! So are you gonna sit here and talk about how amazing I am or are you going to help me catch another bastard?"

"Ha! Funny. Let's go!"

We left the station and went to the house across the road of the crime scene. It was a suburban area, the houses were very close to each other and there were trash scattered everywhere. We found the right house and  knocked on the door. A tall skinny man with dark skin, curly black hair and brown eyes appeared at the door.

"Yes?" he answered looking confused by our presence.

"Pablo Garcias?" I asked, getting to the point. He nodded and we showed our badges : "LAPD. We would like to ask you a few more quest..." he started running before I could even finish my sentense.

"Why do they always run?" Vincent asked rhitorically.

"Go block the back door."

In a heartbeat we circled Pablo and managed to catch him as Vincent jumped on him.

"Would you like to do the honors?" Vincent turned towards me.

"I will let you have this one." i said.

He smiled.

"Pablo Garcias,  you are under arrest, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you by the court."

Pablo stayed in silence. We all knew he was guilty.

"Let's take him in." I said.

Vincent took him to the car and we went back to the precint. Our deputies put Pablo in a cell and as I was about to go into my office, Captain Lance called out for me.

"Parker!"

"Sir."

"Nice work back there."

"Thank you Sir!"

"I have a new case for you, but I don't know if you can handle it." he said with a smirk on his face.

"With all do respect Sir, you do know who you are talking to, don't you?" I said with pride.

"Right! Well don't say I didn't warn you kiddo." he said and gave me the file for the new case.

Not wasting any more time, I went to my office to study the file carefully. The things I read were horrible. The victim had been struggled (most likely with a rope) and his heart was cut out. Who had done this? What was the motive? How could a human being do such an abhorrent action?

I filled my head with questions. Wasn't  chocking him enough? Whoever did this had to take a "souvenir" as well? People like him or her shouldn't be allowed to breath fresh air and walk free in society, they deserve a life behind bars. On that day, I made it my life's purpose to find who is responsible for such a crime and make sure that justice will be served!
