"Great work today everyone, go home and get some rest. Just because regionals are over doesn't mean you can slack off." I said cheerfully to her class.
The room of buzzing young dancers slowly trickled out of the room.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Yumi Lin?" A man with a deep voice asked from across the room.
"Yes, that's me. How can I help you?" I replied politely, turning to see two men in neatly tailored black suits standing at the far side of the room.
"My employer recently saw a video of your choreography from the recent regionals competition you participated it, and he was very impressed. He is currently visiting the US for a business trip and would like to arrange a meeting between the two of you." The man explained.
"He would like to meet me? Who is your boss?" I asked slightly surprised.
"My employer is Bang Si-hyuk, founder and CEO of BigHit Entertainment." The man replied.
"Are you serious!" I almost shouted. "*cough* Sorry. Why does he want to meet with me?" I asked politely, slightly red from embarrassment.
"I'm afraid I do not know that, all he told us was to come and find you because he wants to meet you. If you would like to accept his invitation come to the address in this envelope at 5 o'clock tomorrow evening, he will be waiting for you." He replied as his accomplice handed me a white envelope. "If you do not wish to accept his invitation then just call the number also included and tell us. We hope to see you tomorrow." The men continued. They shook my hand and left the room.Later that evening.
"So are you going to go?" My flatmate Cara asked.
"I guess. Nothing to lose I guess. But can you cover my dance class tomorrow? The meetings at the same time as my evening class." I asked.
"Of course, I wouldn't let you miss meeting Bang Si-hyuk because you had to teach a class." Cara laughed.
"Ha ha, thanks, Cara." I laughed.
"I know, I'm amazing." Cara giggled. "I do have one question though. What are you going to wear?" She asked.
"Hadn't thought about that. Well I don't know why I'm meeting him but it's a pretty fancy place, so I think formal dress is probably best. Want to help me choose?" I asked with a cheeky smile, I know how much Cara likes choosing outfits for people so I knew she'd jump at the chance.
"YAY!" She squealed.Three hours later we had finally decided on an outfit. We decided on a simple three quarter length sleeve black top with a tan brown skirt and thin black belt. Along with a pair of dark fawn heels and the simple silver necklace with a tear drop shaped charm containing the gem Alexandrite I always wore. Smart yet stylish.
The next day.
"You're meeting him at Abigael's!!! Abigael's on Broadway?!" Cara exclaimed, nearly falling off her chair.
"Yeah. I told you it was a fancy place." I replied, giggling at my roommate.
"Fancy doesn't even cover it. Do you know how expensive it is there?" She replied.
"Yeah, I looked it up last night. It's ridiculously expensive, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how much they charged." I answered, remembering my shock from the night before.
"All the more reason to go, ha ha. When will you get to go to such a expensive place again?!" She said excitedly.
"Well--"
"NEVER. That's when." Cara said, cutting me off.
"I know, I know. Now will you let me leave now, I'm going to be late?" I said more seriously.
"Oh, right, sorry. Don't want you to be late do we? Ha ha." Cara replied.
"Thank you, I'll see you later. Bye." I waved.
"Bye, good luck." Cara waved back as I left the room.
"Wow, this place is amazing!" I exclaimed as I stood outside of Abigael's on Broadway, my mouth agape.
I walked inside and stood in the lobby where I was told to wait from the information in the envelope I got yesterday.
"Excuse me miss?" Came a man's voice from my right. "Are you Miss Yumi Lin?" He asked.
"I am." I replied, turning to face him.
"Oh good, please follow me, CEO Bang is waiting for you through here." He said, pointing his hand in the direction of a smaller dining room to the side of the lobby, leading me to where Bang Si-hyuk was waiting."Ah, Miss Lin, glad you could join me today." CEO Bang smiled, shaking my hand.
"It's my pleasure, and a pleasure to meet you CEO Bang." I smiled back.
"Please, take a seat and I will tell you why I asked to meet you."
We sat at a neatly laid table, it was covered in a clean white table cloth. Placed on top was two wine glasses and neatly folded napkins with expensive looking plates and cutlery placed either side of the plates.
"Now, I'm sure you're curious as to why I asked you to meet me." CEO Bang started.
"I am curious." I replied, still slightly distracted by the beauty of the restaurant.
"I'm sure my employees told you how impressed I was with your choreography your team entered the regionals competition with, and I will tell you myself, like the judges, I was incredibly impressed and not in the least bit surprised when you won, it was well deserved." He smiled at me.
"Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it." I smiled back.
"I hear that this was your first time choreographing dances for such a large competition, is this correct?" He asked.
"Yes, that's right. I have choreographed for smaller competitions and for recitals and such but that was my first time at regionals." I replied.
"Very impressive. Im sure all of the other choreographers were surprised that they were beat so easily by someone so new." CEO Bang chuckled.
"Ah, well it wasn't all me, I couldn't have done it without my team, their really talented young dancers and their ideas are incredible." I said, taking a sip of water.
"I'm sure they are, but I didn't ask you here to talk about your team. I would like to offer you a job as BigHit Entertainments new choreographer." He explained.
"Are you serious?!" I gasped, almost choking on my drink.
"Yes, I am. I believe you would be a fantastic addition to our team. You've already proven yourself to be a remarkable choreographer and im sure our groups would benefit from your input." He smiled. "You will be provided with accommodation and we will provide transportation as we are aware that this is sudden and it may be difficult for you to organise transportation yourself along with dealing with everything here. All other information will be sent to you if you accept the position." CEO Bang continued.
"Well, i'll need some time to think about it, but thank you for this opportunity, I really appreciate it." I smiled.
"Of course, I expected nothing less. We will give you some time to think about and when you make your decision please call this number." He said, handing me a small piece of paper with a phone number and email on it.
I took the paper from him and we stood up.
"It was a pleasure to meet you miss Lin, I hope to hear from you soon." CEO bang said, shaking my hand.
"The pleasure was all mine." I smiled. The man who lead me to the table led me back out into the lobby, shook my hand and headed back to where CEO Bang still stood.
'Did that really just happen to me? Did I really just get offered a job at BigHit Entertainment? I can't believe it' I thought to myself, still slightly in shock from it all."What did he want?" Cara screeched as I walked through the door.
"Can I get through the door first please?" I laughed.
"Oh right, sorry." She laughed, letting me in. "So what did he want? What did you talk about?" She asked.
"Well, he said he saw my team performing at regionals and that he was impressed and liked the choreography." I started.
"And? What else?" She questioned.
"Um, well..." I started.
"Yes?" Cara butted in.
"Well, he offered me a job." I finished.
"WHAT!? HE OFFERED YOU A JOB?!" She shouted.
"Uh, yeah ha ha, he did." I replied.
"Are you going to accept it?" She asked.
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know? This has been your dream since middle school, you have to accept." Cara said, slight disbelief in her voice.
"Cara. Of course I'm going to do it, I've been working towards this for way too long not to accept." I laughed.
"Oh, good. Wait, does this mean you're moving to Korea?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'll be moving to Seoul to the staff accommodation they provide."
"Ahh, so I'll have the whole flat to myself?...Finally." Cara giggled.
"Hey, I'm not that bad a flatmate." I said, glaring at her.
"Ha ha, I know." She laughed.
"Ah, it will be nice to go back to Korea, I haven't been there in so long." I sighed. "Anyway, I need to tell them I've decided to accept and start packing, who knows when I'll leave."
"True, better get started. If you need a hand, come find me." Cara smiled as she walked towards her room.
