It's coming up to Valentine's Day. A day you should be happy about but you dread it. It's the first time you'd be spending the holiday in a relationship but for some reason it wasn't appealing. You had bought your boyfriend a cute little card with a photo of you together and a box of chocolates. Classic but nice presents. You didn't expect anything in return of course. Not his style. Or attitude?
He claims he is tight on money so you hadn't seen him in a while because he couldn't afford travel or received a birthday or Christmas present yet. That claim lost meaning when he bought endless video games to fulfil his addiction and a new iPhone claiming it would be better so he could message you more.
None of your friends like him. Never did and probably never will, you were starting to see why. There was no input or effort from your boyfriend of nearly one year.
You had confided in your friend (male/friend/name) who lived in a different country and he had told you that your boyfriend can't be making you happy. You mentally agreed but continued to make excuses, hoping to find some positives... nothing, he saw right through you.
"He better at least get you flowers" were the words he said bitterly
"We'll see" the phrase that seemed to constantly leave your uncertain lips. He hung up.The next day you received a text -
"Happy Valentines Day baby, I love you but I can't see you today. Thanks for the gift tho, sorry for not getting you anything xx"Well then. You didn't know what to do with yourself. Half disappointed and half relieved. You didn't want to see him, you had someone else in mind, but that person was half way across the world.
During the time you were pondering about your relationship another text popped up on your phone -
"Happy Valentines Day, I know he didn't get you anything..." and then a link.
You clicked it, a YouTube playlist popped up. It was titled "bouquet" you smiled to yourself.
Another text from the foreigner -
"I couldn't get flowers to you so I called it bouquet, when I listen to these songs I think of you"
You smiled contently
"Thank you, happy Valentine's Day (m/f/n)"
