Request: Stan picked up reader to bird watch cause she liked to too. And she had been reading up on bird calls so she and Stan could get a closer look at birds, she had finally perfected most of the calls and decided to show off. Stan swears he fell in love at that moment.

                                                                                             ***

(y/n) grabbed the big book on her desk as she heard the familiar knock on her front door. Tucking it under her arm she opened it with a big smile.

"Hey, Stan. Ready to go?" She asked, looking at the smiling boy. A matching grin on her face.

"Yep." Stan said, stepping back to allow her to lock the door before both turning around and beginning the short walk to the Forrest.

Stan walked, holding the binoculars around his neck in his hands. (y/n) knew he found comfort while gripping them. Made him feel safe and secure. She smiled to herself as she looked down at the concrete sidewalk, her eyes scanning over all the cracks and lines imprinted in the grey rock.

Stanley looked over at her with an accusing gaze, "So, what the book about?" (y/n) looked at him, shooting him a quick wink. "Its a surprise, guess you'll just have to wait." Stan let out a teasing whine before lightly shoving her into a bush.

"Watch it, Uris! I'm gonna get you now!" She yelled, recovering from her minor fall and chasing after the running boy. His binoculars swaying side to side and occasionally bumping him in the chest. He continued to run along the pavement towards the sunset, checking over his shoulder to see if she was gaining on him.

Stanley suddenly stopped when he noticed she was no longer behind him. She had completely disappeared.

He started to look around frantically, fear rising in his chest as he clutched his binoculars tighter, his knuckles turning white.

Stan heard a twig snap lightly behind him, he whirled around to face the noise. He was met with (y/n)'s smiling face as she sprung forward, lightly shoving him.

"I got you." She cheered, the book still held close to her body.

Relief coated his features as she returned to her place at his side.

"Scared ya didn't I?" She teased at her friend.

More than you'd ever know. He thought to himself, a passing image of his life without (y/n) imprinting slowly in his mind. A chill crept down his spine as he looked down.

"Yeah you did, you really got me that time." He said a nervous laugh falling from his lips. It sounded pained and forced as he slightly sped up his pace.

She furrowed her brows as she stared at the cement below her, quickening her own stride to match his. When (y/n) reached his side again he walked even faster.

Even more confused she tried to catch up, only this time Stan broke out into a full on sprint before she could reach him, racing towards the trees that signaled the beginning of the forest.

"Stanley! What the hell are you doing?" She called after his retreating figure, his curls and binoculars bouncing in unison. (y/n) grumbled under her breath, before taking off towards the trees.

The wind blew through her hair as she ran. Stan had crossed a lot of land in a short amount of time and she still had to find him. She'd lost him when he reached the edge of the forest, only glancing behind his shoulder once before disappearing amongst the tall tree trunks.

He's ridiculous. A impulsive boy who has a terrible sense of direction, what if he gets lost. It was no secret that Stanley Uris couldn't find a way out of a paper bag, nonetheless a thick forest. She wasn't sure what drove him to run off like that but she was determined to find and question him thoroughly.

As she reached the end of the clearing she began her journey through the trees. The trunks towered over her as she stepped over large, twisted roots. The occasional bird making noise above her head.

"Stan! Where are you?" She called out in hopes he'd respond to her. (y/n) traveled deeper and deeper through the trees in search of finding him. The branches above her formed a canopy and blocked out most of the natural light, leaving splotches of sunlight on the ground.

In the distance she heard the soft caw of a hawk, the sound getting louder as she neared it. Standing on top of a large knotted root she scanned the green perimeter for familiar brown curls.

Seeing his head shift near the ground sparked her attention, "Stan-" she yelled towards him, only to be quickly cut off by him turning around and shushing her with a scowl on his face.

He motioned her over before turning back around and lifting his binoculars up to his face once again, training them on the ground in front of him.

She approached him slowly to see a white hawk on the ground, hopping around as it picked at its dinner. "It caught a mouse." Stan said, still peering at it through his bulky binoculars.

He shifted forward, changing his position to get a better look at the beautiful bird. His shoe slid slightly on the wet dirt, his ankle twisting at an awkward angle as he lost his balance.

"Shit." He hissed out, the dull pain in his ankle spreading as he clutched it. His curse sent the bird flying away in fear up above them, and hiding amongst the tree branches.

(y/n) crouched next to him as she reached for his hands, removing them away from his ankle. She'd been around Eddie enough to know Stan had only rolled it a little, he only needed some ice and a pat on the back before he'd be good as new.

Adjusting his leg they sat on the ground, the pain in his foot easing slowly. Stanley looked over to her with disdain, mumbling "The bird is gone."

With a small smile she looked at him before pulling the book she'd been carrying out from under her arm. Flipping through the pages she found what she was looking for.

Lifting her hands up her lips she let out a high pitched whistle. Twice she repeated the sound before lifting her head up to look at the branches above them.

First she was met with silence and Stan's confused and somewhat pained face. Then a faint chirp met her ears, encouraging another whistle from her.

A wide smile lit up her face as the white hawk flew down from the trees and over their heads. She had done it, she had successfully mastered a bird call. Pride took over her features as she began to laugh. Her body beginning to shake as she giggled, practically rolling around on the forest floor.

Stan watched her with awe, her laughs growing contagious as he began to chuckle, his ankle forgotten. He grinned at her as their laughter died. Adoration clear in his eyes.

He slung an arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer to him as they sat on the ground. They'd probably be muddy when they stood up, but Stan was happy in the moment. He was here with (y/n) the girl he cared for and it couldn't have been better.

"Whos the better bird watcher now, Uris?" She teased at him, her smile managing to grow.

"It's you. I think it's always been you." If only she knew what he truly meant.
