The phone rings and Kian ignores it.

"Who was calling you?" He shrugged and walked away.

"It was my friend Timmy who called." He seemed annoyed.

"Why did you just ignore his phone call?"

"He is just so annoying so I just ignore him."

"What if it was really important?"

"Nothing he says to me is important. He complains that his sister died and that he mom never cooks. Well guess what, I don't care!" He walks to his bedroom door and slams it.

"He is never like that." A voice behind me says. I jump.

"Oh you startled me. Why is he like this?"

"I don't know but do want some shaved ice?" I nodded and looked back at Kian's door. "Kian has always been the person to be nice all the time even though he was mad. I don't know why he is like this. He might be trying to impress you by his "bad boy" attitude." Kian goes walking down the hallway.

"Hey Kian wanna go surfing later?" He grabs a snow cone and turns back.

"Yeah we can surf." I smiled and waved as he went into his room again. An hour later I arrive at his door and knock.

"Hey Kian can we please surf now?"

"Yeah." We head outside and grab our boards.

"So how did you learn to surf?"

"I learned from my grandma, when she was alive." He puts his head down.

"I'm sorry for your loss. I know the feeling about losing someone that you love." He props his head on my shoulder.

"Who did you lose that was so important?" I feel the tears building up, I don't want him to see me crying.

"Um... it was my mom and dad ran in front of a truck. I tried to stop him but it was too late." I see that he was now looking at my face and saw the tear, I wiped it away.

"Oh that's very tragic." He cuddles me and I pull away.

"People told me that my mom and dad did that because they didn't love me. I ignored them but it got to me so I did this. It wasn't curiosity, it was suicide." I could see that he was puzzled. "If you don't get it then i'll go."

I start walking and I feel him pull me back. I look back and he pulls me closer, he kisses me.

"I get you." I was stunned that I couldn't move or speak. I just stood there for a few minutes. "Stephanie are you okay?"

I run away and head towards my grandma's beach house. "Well young lady, where have you been?" She has her hands on her hips. I put my head down.

"I was just swimming and lost track of time." I feel her eyes on me.

"I know you're too wrapped up in those mean things those people were saying about your mom and dad. They not true."

"H..how did you know this?" She pulled out my phone and opened it. "Here's what little Mackenzie

texted you 'Hey depressed twat, you still sad that your mom and dad are dead. Well they never

wanted you so they killed themselves.' Why do you let these people walk all over you

Stephanie?" I looked at only the wood floors and said nothing. "I'm gonna ask you again and

you better answer me. Why do you let them treat you this way?" I feel itchiness and knew the

tears were coming.

"I just ignore them but they got to me. That's why I was at the beach today. I was going to kill myself at the beach." Her arms are open and hug her, I let all my emotions out.

"Stephanie we are gonna-" A knock from the door and my grandma opens it, it is Kian.

"Stephanie-" My grandma puts her arm in front of him.

"Woah woah woah do you know him Stephanie?" I nod. "How do you know each other?"

"His grandfather saved me and so he became my friend."

"Oh okay but why is he here?"

"Well ma'am I wanted to talk to Stephanie."

"Okay go right ahead." I grab Kian's hand and I lead him to the kitchen.

"Why are you here? Also why did you kiss me?"

"I wanted to talk to you about if I let you go home with me, I mean you would like it in Indiana. I don't know why I kissed you but whatever, would you like to go to Indiana with me?"

"I would have to talk to my grandma about this. But I would like to." I walk into the living room.

"Grandma?" She looks at me.

"Yes honey?"

"Well Kian and I were discussing about moving to Indiana. You could move in with Kian's grandfather or he could move in with you. So can I go?" She stares at the wall for a few minutes.

"Okay but Kian you better take care of her. You guys meet your mother at the airport when you get there. Let me meet your grandfather." Kian leads the way to his beach house.

"Hey Grandad i've got a visitor here." His grandad peers around the corner.

"Oh hey Jeanette. I didn't know you lived around here." Kian and I look puzzled.

"You two know each other?"

"I used to be his chemistry tutor."

"Yeah so why is she here?"

"She is moving in with you in a couple of months because Stephanie and I are going to Indiana together."
