"I've never met an Annalise before."

Anna halted her futile attempts in shoving her books into her cramped locker. Last period had finally ended and students were milling around the halls, excitedly planning their first afternoon with friends after the holidays. Peering around curiously, Anna scanned the crowd for the familiar voice. As her brown-eyed gaze met pools of sea greens -this time shielded behind a pair of round, wire-rim glasses-, she felt her lips curl into a tight smile, turning her torso so that she could properly face him. "I take it that you weaselled that tidbit out of Carmel?" she chirped, hugging her books closer to her chest.

Davy raised his hands in mock-surrender, a playful smile gracing his lip." Well, what can I say? I'm quite the charmer." Suddenly his face turned serious, eyebrows furrowed in deep thought. "You're not planning on becoming a lawyer now are you?" he asked in all seriousness.

Anna cocked an eyebrow at him. "Why? You've got a murder to cover up?" she taunted jokingly.

A devilish smirk etched itself on Davy's face, his eyes glittered with dangerous humour. "Maybe a couple."

Anna let out a nervous chuckle. 'Wait, that was a joke, right?' she thought, unsure. Clearing her throat, she brushed off the comment and tried to shove her copy of Harlow's Guide to Basic Arithmetics into her locker. "People just call me Anna, by the way," she mumbled.

"Sorry?" Davy quizzed.

'He had a weird way of pronouncing the letter 'R', Anna noted absent-mindedly. Cramming her damn book in with one final huff, she slammed her locker door shut. "Anna," she said, turning to face him, "you can just call me Anna."

"Eh-na?" he echoed unsurely.

"Ah-Na," she corrected. "Like from Frozen."

Awkwardly, she stuck her hand out for a handshake, silently cursing over how awkward she was. 'Goddamn this 'being nice' thing is hard,' she cursed inwardly. 'Do people even give handshakes nowadays?' she screamed in her head.

People must actually do give handshakes nowadays because Davy grabbed her hand in the next heartbeat. His hands were strong and his fingers were calloused. And really warm. Like 'a blanket on a chilly night' warm. It felt really nice. Like really nice. Anna forced herself to snap to her senses. 'This is your best friend's boyfriend, you creep,' she chided herself. As she started to pull her hand out of Davy's (so supple, so soft) hands, he did the unexpected.

He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it.

Now, that was definitely bizarre.

"Nice to formally meet you, Anna from Frozen," he winked.

Eyes wide in shock - and in slight embarrassment, but don't tell anyone that - Anna's jaw dropped in surprise as a myriad of thoughts ran through her head. 'Who in the hell did this guy think he was?' she thought, 'And what the fuck do I do now?' Thankfully, Anna was saved from the weird interaction when a huge figure crashed into her.

"ANNIE!!! I MISSED YOU!" cried an annoyingly familiar voice, as the owner squeezed the life out of her.

"Lucas, what the fuck are you doing?" Anna choked out in astonishment, silently grateful for the distraction. "Let go of me, I can't breathe."

Finally loosening his grip, Lucas leaned back slightly, his hands still loosely interlocked at the small of Anna's back. "What's wrong with giving my favourite person a hug," he pouted, widening his big blue eyes like a child before crushing her again in a second bear hug. "Favourite person?" echoed Anna in disbelief, "Since when?"

"Since forever," came Lucas's muffled reply.

As Lucas finally let Anna out of his arms - or more like Anna squirmed herself out of his python-like grip, the blue-eyed menace seemed to take notice of the third party of their bizarre rendezvous.

Emphasis on 'seem'.

Anna had a weird feeling Lucas's showcase of affection had more to do with the tall dude standing in front of them, looking slightly irked by Lucas's interruption. But just as quickly it had come, his displeasure vanished as a dazzling smile plastered itself on his face. Clearing his throat, Davy extended an outstretched palm towards Lucas. "Hey," he greeted.

Lucas snapped his head at the new boy and looked him over condemnatorily. Raising an eyebrow at Anna, he cocked his head slightly at Davy and slung a -heavy- arm over her shoulder. "Who's the wizard?"

Stifling a laugh, Anna shook her head at Lucas in dismay. "Lucas, this Davy Matthews, he just transferred here. It's his first day." Casting a warning look his way, Anna gritted her teeth, "Be. nice."

Brushing off her warning, Lucas sent a quizzical look at Davy. "Davy? Like Davy Jones locker - Davy?"

Davy let out a humorous laugh. "Yeah, my parents definitely didn't think that through when they named me," he chuckled.

"Davy actually volunteers at the soup kitchen where Carmel works," continued Anna, widening her eyes pointedly at Lucas. "You know, your cousin."

Lucas glared at Anna as realisation dawned on Davy's handsome face.

"Damn, no way!" cried Davy joyfully, his face lighting up like Christmas came early. "You're Carmel's cousin? That's awesome, dude. She's amazing!"

Lucas sighed dolefully and cast an accusatory glare at Anna. 'You did this,' it seemed to say.

"Hey, you don't mind if I shoot my shot now, do ya?" Davy chuckled, his eyes twinkling with delight.

"What the-" Lucas spluttered, backing up in disgust. Unfortunately, he still had his arm around Anna's shoulder and dragged her backwards with him. Just as she was plummetting to the ground in the most ungodly fashion, he grabbed her by her backpack and yanked her back up before slinging his arm across her shoulders again. Curse his stupid football reflexes. Anna rolled her eyes in annoyance.'Fucking idiot,' she cursed. "Gross, no, back off, man," Lucas chided Davy, thoroughly peeved.

Davy simply laughed good-naturedly and glanced at his watch. "Crap," he cursed, " I gotta bounce. But we'll talk about this soon, bro," he chuckled. "See ya around... the house, maybe?" Davy snickered cheekily, completely oblivious of the metaphorical smoke coming out of Lucas's ears. "Catch you, later, Anna from Frozen!" he hollered, tossing a charming wink over his shoulder.

"See ya, around, Potter," grumbled Lucas in the most outrageous rendition of a British accent Anna had ever seen. It would've been pretty hilarious if Lucas hadn't looked about ready to murder someone. Nevertheless, Anna let out a small chuckle.

"Would you look at that?" she teased, Lucas snapping his head towards her. "We've finally found someone with a head as big as yours!"

"Shut up," he grumbled, still shooting daggers at Davy's retreating back.

Anna rolled her eyes (she lost count of how many times she'd done that in less than a day). "You shut up," she bit back. Shrugging off his arm (it was heavy as fuck) she punched him in the shoulder.

That seemed to snap Lucas out of his rage-induced stupor as he rubbed his poor shoulder indignantly.

"And stop fucking touching me, you creep," Anna cried.
