Apparently, Anna's rendezvous for names with Mr Ooh-I've-Got-Perfect-Hair (yes, Anna knew how bad of an insult that was- she did not care) came along a lot sooner than expected. This rather depressing truth came apparent when, not five minutes after Mr Robbins had finally managed to display his lecture slide (I had my thumb over the lens! Silly me!) the door creaked open, the bell rang and in stepped Mr Womanizer, himself.'You've got to be kidding me,' she thought in disbelief as she watched the new boy strut into the classroom, a smirk creeping on his face once he noticed the trails of whispers and flirty looks sent his way as he made his glamourous entrance.
Carmel whipped her head and beamed at Anna in excitement once her hazel eyes caught sight of the newcomer. Noticing the judgemental gaze creeping onto Anna's face, Carmel shot her a pointed look and mouthed,' You promised!'
For the sake of her friend who still-unfortunately- hadn't grasped the fact that Anna did not , in fact , like him, Anna forced a smille on her face and tried to seem excited.
Keyword being: tried.
Once Carmel had turned around to face the whiteboard, Anna quickly wiped the stupid smile off her face and shook her head in slight amusement at Carmel's love-struck attitude. Pulling out her textbook, a notepad and her pencil case, she opened her textbook and skimmed through the pages, half-hiding her face behind the thick blue book, hoping against hope that Matthews wouldn't settle into the empty seat beside her.
He didn't.
Relieved, Anna released a breath she hadn't realised she was holding and settled down comfortably in her seat, silently thanking God for saving her an earful of year-long irritation.
And then, she looked up and saw Davy Matthew's new desk mate.
'Oh my God,' she inwardly groaned, slapping a hand to her forehead. 'Of all people!'
Turns out she wasn't going to be saved an earful of irritation.
Anna watched with slight contempt, and slight amusement as her best friend fidgeted with her hair, twirling a stray lock around her finger as she giggled to whatever it was that Damian Matthews had said. Batting her eyelashes way more than necessary, Carmel flashed him a rather flirtatious smile and continued to chat.
Anna sighed, shaking her head slightly at the scene unfolding in front of her. The boy - Davy, seemed like quite the heartbreaker, but to be honest, she wasn't really afraid for Carmel. Anna knew that no matter how obsessed her best friend got with a guy, no matter how long her relationship would last, it would always be temporary, and within two weeks, she would've gotten a new love interest. As sappy as Carmel makes out to be, believing in "true love" and 'happily ever after's, she really is quite the coquette.
Turning away from the giggly pair, Anna resumed her attention to the projector screen. Mr Robbins stood behind his battered laptop, grey hair wild, wire-rim glasses askew as they sat atop his crooked nose.
"Morning class," he greeted, heaving his large, leather satchel. "Sorry for the delay. You kids and your weird technology, ho ho!"
Clapping his hands together, he said," Alright, then. Open up your textbooks to page twenty-"
A tentative knock rapped on the door, interrupting Mr Robbins mid-speech. "Yes?" He called out, ceasing his class. The door creaked open and a mop of brown hair peeped from behind the door, a venti cup of Starbucks in hand, it's owner smiling sheepishly at the teacher.
"Late again, Mr Sawyer?" said Harrows, his tone half-amused.
Lucas grimaced before pushing through the doorway. "Sorry, professor. It won't happen again. I promise."
