Calmness-that was one thing that has never been my strong suit. As my siblings have stated plenty of times before, after arguments that went too far out of proportion. I had grown used to the constant glares from the younger members of the guild-my siblings and close friends being an exception. I was Lynn's second in command, this was only because I didn't mind doing work for her-at first.
I had grown accustomed to being told to get something done hours before it was to be sent off or documented of it's completion. Staying up till far past midnight was not one of the things I disliked, I would've done so even if I didn't have work that needed to be done before six in the morning.
Of course, it had to be one of the nights where I was in this position that it happened. I was sitting on my bed writing feverishly while attempting to not wake the small child sleeping on my lap. Normally Aria would've been sleeping with Madelyn but she was out on patrol after Lynn received word of a suspicious person on the guild's territory.
At the rate I was writing I would've been finished within the next hour or so-I was enjoying the silence aside from the ungodly snoring coming from the room next to us. Then there was no more silence, it was instead filled with a horrified shriek that caused everyone to wake up reluctantly with groans of annoyance.
Once the door had been thrown open carefully I was aware of Maddie who stood there with a worried expression as she motioned for everyone to follow quickly-to which we obliged knowing that if the reason wasn't good enough there would be a brawl that we'd have to stop regardless.
I sighed loudly as I scooped Aria up holding the child carefully against me as we ventured down the hall towards the meeting area-which was essentially a hall where balls would be held if it was still the older ages. I grimaced knowing it was serious when I caught sight of black cloaks being pulled on by the elders and the small children being told to sit down in the corners and remain quiet.
Lynn let out a heart broken sob as she fell to the ground in front of two lifeless bodies which caused me to push Aria's head down into my shoulder. The smell of blood finally became apparent as I focused onto the surroundings, there was scarlet smeared across the floor and weeps coming from some of the ladies closer to the front-who I could only assume were some of the caretakers.
Whispers and murmurs suddenly sounded as Lynn inhaled sharply and stood up from the bodies, blood soaking into the pale blue fabric of her outfit and staining her hands. She uttered something softly to one of the guards standing next to her before she turned around and faced the rest of the guild.
"There is a traitor among us" She hissed, "and when I find who it is I will make sure they face the same fate that my daughters did, with no hesitation."
Lynn's declaration caused me to sigh softly, the thought of her going to every single person within the guild to discover whether they were suspicious or not made my head hurt immensely. This would mean I'd have more work to do-and Lynn would be on everyone's ass about every little thing they did.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Kira smiling softly as she gestured towards the rest of the group who was currently walking back to dorms. I nodded sending her a kind gaze before turning and hurrying after them while trying to avoid waking up Aria who was already beginning to stir because of Lynn's outburst.
When I reached the room I let out a soft laugh at the fact that everyone was sitting up on their beds, tired eyes staring at one another-Allison already looking as if she was half asleep with her head against the wall. I shut the door to the best of my abilities before walking over and putting Aria down on Maddie's bed-much to her dismay.
I looked over at Natalie who looked more annoyed than all of us could be combined, running her hand through her hair in exasperation before finally letting out a loud groan of frustration-only to be shushed quickly by everyone in the room.
"She calls a meeting to tell us that someone is a traitor? At three in the morning?" She muttered.
"What would you do if you found me dead in a hallway at three in the morning?" I shot back, pointing at her with a stern gaze, "Besides, those were her daughters."
"The daughters who she left in the care of nurse maids half the time." Natalie pointed out, crossing her arms as a yawn escaped her.
I rolled my eyes before walking back over to my bed, grabbing the pen and paper that had been carelessly thrown to the floor at the sound of the scream earlier. I snorted when I saw Jessie had already fallen asleep as if nothing had previously happened.
I glared down at the paper as I lit the candle next to me once again, causing many of them to groan in protest and mumble that no one should be up at this hour causing me to attempt to muffle small laughs before I leaned against the wall.
"You have four hours to catch up on your precious sleep, now go to bed already." I spoke waving my hand aimlessly before going back to writing down information on the paper.
So in simple words, the Crystalire guild is not able to help you at this time. I encourage you to take back your threats against us as it will only be answered with the guild at your door when you least expect it.
The Crystalire's are not people that should be doubted when it comes to defending our members, we are like a family and it will stay that way. I ask you, once again, to revoke your threats against us and move your patrolmen off of our ground.
I hope we can sort this out without a knife against someone's throat, dearest friend.
Sincerely,
Crystalire Second-in-command,
Rosalina Macelin Sollaspear
