Thomas' POV
"Jesus Christ what died in here?" I frown and hold my sleeve to my nose. It smells of old books and coffee. Alex looks back at me with the eyes as dark as fresh coffee and cocks an eyebrow.
"Oh you're just being dramatic." He huffs and starts some how organizing the mess, at the point that my newly appointed office was in I didn't think it was salvageable.
"No,no, that's your job." I shake my head and start placing books up on the bookshelf.
"I didn't take you as the type to start actively cleaning Jefferson. " I can't help but let a smile pull on the corners of my lips. He glances at me and gasps." Holy crap, you do smile !"
"Yes,yes I do." I roll my eyes." And believe it or not, I do clean. I don't have servants at my every need at my home."
"Surprising. " he laughs and starts throwing paper cups from old coffee away.
"Who do you take me for Hamilton?" I sit on the edge of the desk." A pompous asshole whod rather watch others do his work for him? How do you think I got into this line of work?"
"Fair enough ." He smiles and tips his head towards me.
"Did you notice how nervous Aaron got when we started talking about suspect clues?" I cock my head and study the wall of clues, its not half bad.
"So I want the only one that noticed. " Alex's eyebrows raise up. I glance at him and bite my lip, I grab my laptop and sink into the couch .
"As much as I respect my boss, as he's also my friend, he's never gotten that nervous over talking about a case." I log on and start browsing Aaron's ID on the FBI database.
"I knew Aaron from when I just got here. " he smiles and looks out the window, his smile falters and eyebrows screw up. "Then he... made a choice I did nor agree with."
"What was it?" I stop typing and glance up at Alex. His jaw locks around he shakes his head." It's nothing. What are you looking at Jefferson?" He leans over the backof the couch.
"Burr's background history, everytime I look at it I notice there's a few pieces missing, every profile should be filled completely. Especially at his level." Alex reaches his hand into a bowl full of skittles and pick out a few green ones. He craddles them in hispalm and pop them in one by one.
"What's missing?" His mouth hovers by my ear, I cant help but notice thta his breath now smells like candy apples instead of candy.
"Past relationships, orgin of his parents, curent relationships , any spouse, past criminal charges, any kills, and..." Alex's eyes widen, he almost chokes on a Skittle.
"Woah, woah, woah." He clears his throat with a swig of water." There's nothing on past charges? Not even a speeding ticket?" I shake my head.
" Clean record." I sigh, even I find that odd.
"And they're just, blank, no NA's in the space?" Alex cocks an eyebrow.
"It's been like that since I joined, weird hu?" I watch his eyes for a minute, I can almost watch the numbers amd facts bounce around behind his eyes.
"Washington has a few like that." He mutters and brings up his own laptop.
"Seriously?" I blink and he sits next to me on the couch, this is the closest we've been without trying to kill eachother.
"Maybe it a supervisor thing?" He turns the screen to show me. He only has two missing, past job and criminal record.
"I looked at Lee's the other day, I thought the same thing. Everything was the way it was supposed to be. " He sighs and lets his hair down, damn he needs a hair cut.
"Maybe we should look deeper into that. Scan their social media accounts and try the CIA's data base, email James Madison and ask for access, say your working with me. He'll let you in." I grab a handful of Skittles and start showering the internet.
"You know someone from the CIA?" His eyes meet mine over the glow of the screen. I can't help but give a crooked grin.
" You'd be suprises who I know, Alexander. " We settle into a comfortable silence.
